It is a good thing that crap runs downhill because I am at a good eleviation. Let's readjust our expectations and stop the promos. JB and the athletic crew trying to sell us on the bigtime arriving. The lack of basketball fundamentals, defensive commitment and rebounding is astounding. Maybe the schedule poster should be the "Magnificant 7" in diapers.
its easy to say this kind of crap when we play horrible...where are you going to be when they play well?? oh yeah in your little hole somewhere hiding....
Did you watch what I just watched. We are all in a little hole on a nationally televised performance.

This was one game.

One.

Uno game-o.

It was bad. It was very very bad. It was still only one game.

Man, you sallies need to stick to the women's bball forum. After 1 game, we have "no fundamentals" and "someone needs to be held accountable". 1 blow out and the sky is falling. How about if we check out the next 10 games or so to see if we're the worst team in Division 1.

It's funny how a certain faction of "fans" show up after every loss, even over a year after V-day.

If the MBB game has you all depressed, frustrated, or discouraged, turn over to MASN and watch our football team win again against W-G. :clapping

It is one game and we got drilled. Teams can improve, however with all the hype and knowing this is a UNCA predicted 9th with gapping holes from key losses I think it was a lightening bolt to watch our team on national tv. If they play better at UVA then give credit for the improvement.

Some fans have an interest in college basketball.

I am not in any little hole. I am an active supporter financially and in attendance. But my expectations for LU athletics is much higher than what I and my family watched today.

i was very upset with what i saw today....the difference is you can not let one game determine the fate of a team...and if we had blown them out today i am sure the kool-aid drinkers would be out in full force much like you guys are out in full force today...

you can't put too much stock in one game...especially the first road game of the day...if there is no improvement, then theres a problem...

but then again according to the women's basketball expert I know nothing...

 Ive spent more time observing just men's basketball than you have crying about your job at a radio station... If you knew anything about basketball you would have a problem with what you saw today... Even the people that arent drinking anything have a problem with it. Youre probably the biggest idiot on this board anyway, so we shouldnt expect anything less Mr. Gray. Get off the McMasters diet.

Preseason rankings are nothing more than something for us to talk about. There's no way you can predict how a bunch of freshmen are going to do. Did anyone think that kid from UNCA was going to be as good as he was today? Did anyone think Anthony Smith would just not show up? Yes, we had some basketball things that were not good today. However, those can be corrected. What worries me the most is that no one is a leader. No one on that floor stepped up and took control of this team. Until we find someone to do that, no matter what coaching decisions we make we're not going to be a good basketball team. You have to have leadership on the floor to be successful.

Where does sound fundamental basketball come in and who is the leader for the approach?

Fundamentals can be taught and improved on as the year goes on. You can't teach leadership.

Give these kids a break. Other than Smith...they are 18 YEARS OLD. At most any level...defense is the toughest aspect to teach and coach. They are making the jump from high school, where they could get by on their raw skills and athleticism...to mid-level D1 where raw skills and athleticism get you a 30 point loss on some days...and 20 point wins on others.

Patience. Have patience.

I can't believe we were eliminated from the postseason today.......so sad

Can't wait for baseball to start but I hope Toman doesn't lose 1 of their first couple of games. Would hate to give up on them in February.

It's not even Thanksgiving yet !!!!!!

Bob Knight just talked about freshmen in the pregame of UNC/Kentucky. He said you have no idea what to expect day in and day out. But some of you guys know more than he does about basketball.

Just because some of you play pick up basketball in the mornings doesnt mean you know anything about the game. That's why you play in the mornings.

wow Tyler you're crazy,

You are really overreacting about this game. ITS ONE GAME!!! Yes, I was ticked watching the game and I am still angry about it but your are acting like its the end of the world. Liberty is SO YOUNG, they are going to have games like this. I actually don't think you know anything about basketball because you freak out when a team has a bad game. You don't see the big picture and big picture is a very talented team that will be very good in the future. You obviously don't know how to evaluate talent because if you did you would know we will be fine.

Liberty is a team that lives and dies by the three. When they are hitting threes they will look awesome and when they don't like today, they will look like crap. Also the defense does need a lot of work. I think everyone knows that. So how about you come the heck down and breath. Its not the end of the world. I hope Liberty plays awesome their next game and fixes everything, just so you can come back and read everything you wrote and then smack yourself in the face for being such an overreacting idiot!

BTW Coach McKay is the man! 8)

I'll be wearing a paperbag until our next win to show my embarrassment of today.

By the way, Anthony played just as crappy as everybody else. Did he leave his fundamentals somewhere by accident? Maybe they were still on the bus. I think it's easy to pick an aspect as generic sounding as "fundamentals" because that goes right to coaching. And some of you are looking for a reason to blame coaching. I'm certainly not trying to say this doesn't lay at RMK's feet. Just don't try to be so lame with any veiled coaching attacks you make.

Here is the libertyflames.com article on the game (no quotes from McKay or the players):

http://www.libertyflames.com/index.cfm? ... 56&TeamID=

One positive stat from the game:
The two teams played nearly even basketball over the final 12 minutes of the game, as UNC Asheville outgained Liberty by a point, 20-19, during the remainder of the game to seal the victory.

This is the kind of game that you just have to move on from and forget.

It's obvious that the guys came out tight and never really calmed down or established any kind of rhythm. They were missing open shots hard off the rim all afternoon.

This team will grow and show better poise, but these young guys are going to have their moments, especially early on.

Can't really say it any better or simpler than Coach McKay: "Forget about it. It's over with."
