Yes I was at the first game- your head coach was doing his best impression of an immature school kid.. first I've never seen a coach lose it in front of any crowd about any player talking a little trash.. most coaches would've sent a message through another player, but no- Ritchie (who was disciplined by the conference b/c of his actions) resulted in acting even less mature- I've honestly never seen a head coach at the D-1 level chase an opposing player down, it was quite unprofessional for the head coach to do that- & they didn't tech him up for that.. but then he kept running his mouth even after warning- you think the refs are kidding?

Your assistant coach just so you're aware crossed half court on the other technical foul, again to chase down a ref and KJ tlaking- he's not even supposed to leave the bench area and he was almost in UNCA's bench area- so what was uncalled for there?? The coaches know the rules- they have to pass the NCAA test every year.. So the lack of composure by the coaching staff brought both technicals up- you could say that your coaches cost you that game, because your players played very well that night

McKay was not disciplined for what he did during the game. He was disciplined for publicly criticizing the referees after the game in the newspaper. Before you tell me to try to discuss something intelligently, get your facts straight yourself.

Dude, even your local fishwrap was running stories about the refs homecooking following that game. Our coach was reprimanded for postgame comments about what a travesty that whole mess was on the floor. But I'd hate to let the facts get in the way for self-justification of being handed a victory thanks to KJ's antics.

No. I didn't get a ticket. I was on the phone all morning with God only knows how many people so I could assure that about 25 people got tickets, which is huge since we only were given 100 to sell.

We've been known to go on opposing boards and stir the pot a little ourselves (and PC fans lurking are probably laughing) so I don't have a problem with some good natured banter. But I admit this is discussion is losing its lustre.

UNCA Fan has done a great job finally getting his school a board and as a result some new fans are entering the Big South message board world. It may take some of them awhile to get the hang of it. So I am willing to Kingaling42 some slack.

I appreciate the slack- by the way.. you're right I was unaware of these boards until UNCA just recently set theirs up and I found out just today.. To set the record straight with any and all of you here- I'm not here to simply talk crap, etc.. that being said I also agree that disagreeing is fine.. coming onto this board I read post after post about how UNCA doesn't deserve to host the game just because of the facilities.. I've acknowleged that it is a tick poor accomodation for visiting fans- heck- we can't even get all our fans in the building.. but it is home- it is loud as can be- and it is ridiculous to ask us to move the home court advantage this team has earned just because we have a small gym.

So like your banner states that you guys are "INTENSE.LOYAL OPINIONATED." - Am I supposed to just sit here and not state my strong opinion as well?? I played at UNCA- I am equally passionate about my school as you are yours... I thought that was what this type of site was all about or is there a double standard unless you call Lynchburg home? Some of my posts have purposeful erroneous info- some of it is to mimic some of your loyal fans' ignorant posts that I have found- I have certainly tried to be sarcastic at times.. It looked like you guys were so I followed suit.. My bad I guess!

You say I'm talking badly about your facilites?? Where have I done that?? I played in 3 BSC tournaments and 3 conference games there- it was/is a great arena and you guys were good and funny fans to play in front of- my point is that just because you have a larger facility you haven't earned the right to play there this post-season. I personally like that the regular season has additional worth- it makes a great and competitive atmosphere and isn't that what collegiate athletics is about?? The Big South has no perfect solution- neutral sites haven't raised enough money except if the host school is still alive and playing- that usually hasn't happened in the history of the league (except WU's recent success- they were a door mat team when I played though)- rotating sites didn't work either- sorry it's not perfect- but you can't suddenly blame UNCA just because we earned the #1 seed- what kind of logic is that?

Where have I down graded you guys as fans (I did throw in a StuporJon barb I know) but then I get a threat from the Hold My Own guy for asking another poster if he got a ticket- Really- are you guys that sensitive?? I have refuted the accounts of the first game- but I was very specific and completely factual in what occurred- trust me I reviewed the tape just to get all those details on the fouls and the technicals that potentially cost you that game (then WU would've hosted the tourney and you'd have nothing to talk about in this post)- just for you fact-tacular persons.. I see no one is refuting that post- you just want to spawn emotional responses now..

If you think we have been tough on the Justice Center hosting a nationally televised tourney game, you ought to visit the VMI board.

I think you'll learn there is certain protocols associated with boards. We tend to use a softer tones as guests on other schools' boards than we do on our own. That's why some of your more pointed posts caused such a ruckus. There was a general feeling of who is this UNCA fan coming into our house and ripping our coaches & arena.

I'm OK with letting bygones be bygones and moving forward. Just so you will know that a number of the posters in this thread made the roadie down to Asheville for the game in question and were sitting close to the action. So they are speaking from firsthand knowledge and not just based on radio descriptions. Suffice it to say there was a great deal of difference in how actions were interpreted that night. UNCA enjoyed the benefits of the victory which ultimately led to a share of the league title for the first time in a decade for you guys. So if anything you should be loving us.

In terms of the first game I have mixed feelings that your coaches may have cost you- however both technicals sparked your team to scoring runs that may not have occurred without those technicals- so its hard to say if that helped or hurt- its trivial to simply say we won by 4 and the technical fouls was the difference- I think we're all more intelligent to simply make that kind of conclusion. I did not initiate any of these discussions except I did try to get a dialogue going about the actual game to be played- not wanting to re-hash whether or not your coaches deserved technical fouls- while I understand some folks traveled for that game- I also being at that first BSC game- didn't really see a large following from LU at UNCA and after watching the game tape- to have you guys continue to state that that cost you the game because of the refs- OK maybe.. but your coaching staff EARNED both technicals- the refs I felt should've T'd McKay up in another altercation in that game..

The guy's ready to fight, and he says he has watched the tapes of game # 1, and he is no more pointed on many things than we have been with ourselves over the period of time that I have been on board. If he's making a mistake, it's coming on our board and saying stuff... other than that - he's a fan.

I like the season meaning something coming play-off time. Other than excitment (and that's a big "other") I think the league should mean more than the tournament, and I have always believed that. In the bigger conferences, the league champ usually gets a bid, regardless of their tourney showing ...

And I do find it unfortunate (to say the least) that visitors cannot get to see the game. At that point, if history and stats confirmed the need for space, I think they should be required to get a bigger gym in town - like it or not.

Good to see you back Realist- I figured you'd guys would still be trying to call all the Winthrop fans who filled out that BSC tourney ticket form that WU Athletics posted on their website almost 2 weeks ago.. OOpppss- How are ticket sales for the game at Winthrop tomorrow?? Oh wait- Didn't anyone tell you that you had to be the #1 seed first?? Homecoming- Senior Night- all the crowd needed was a win and it would have been ahhh-mazing..

Rivals more because of proximity, bad blood in recent years and the fact that Gregg and Eddie hated each other- plus you guys on your board always bring up Kragel's jumper from 2003 & we're the one's that have beaten you in the tourney most frequently- [Note- 2003 game hosted at Liberty (thanks!)]..

Our truest rival left when UNC-Greensboro left the conference in 1997- those games were intense!
