Last week against UNCA is a perfect example.

And no, you didn't post the same things. You'd never say something like this here but said it on your board:
Don't worry another one of their fans will remind me of their national championship TRACK AND FIELD runner.

Wait, did he just bust on Sam? Now it's on! :D

I'm looking through the game thread. Where I mentioned the home cooking they were getting? The late foul call after the airball? This
OMG they called a foul on unca. Miracles can happen...they can happen to you!
They say how the place is packed and everyone behind the benches came dressed as seats...
Must be nice to shove someone and not get called for it.
If you think that is talking crap...wow

Anyways, like someone said, the game is done. Time to move on to vmi for us, and whoever you guys play, csu I'm guessing?

When a fan of another team that isn't involved in the game comes in and talks about you getting unfair calls, yes, that's talking crap. Your fans would kill me if I did that on your board.

If I remember right you said you said we got "homecooking" in the UNCA game just to get a rise out of us I believe.

As you and I have discussed before I am not the typical CCU fan :?

gw took liberty to OT the first time they played - not coastal. gw did give the chants a pretty good game on the road, but coastal had possibly their worst shooting night of the year and hung on.

+1

Coastal does have a good team, and I hope we catch them in the tourney as a 1-2 matchup. We have a tougher road through the rest of the season than Coastal will. If they lose to anyone prior to tourney time, it will be a surprise. If we turn the ball over and allow 20-30 points off turnovers to anyone, we'll most likely lose.

I'm not sure he was arguing that? I mean we should have lost at Webb, but hey.

Four of our conference losses now are one possession games. :(

Fricking Corbin is 1 of 7 for the year from 3 and drains a three at the buzzer to beat us, then goes thug in front of our bench for good measure.:banghead :banghead

edit addition - WU outscored us 8-0 to start the game and 9-4 to start the second half. Add in points off turnovers they outscored us 24-8, we really had no business making it as close as we did.

I think the big question LU fans should have is will WU be in the 4/5 game and play CCU, instead of having to deal with them from the 3/6 game. I think most here will agree with me that WU is one team, no matter how poorly they are playing, you want to meet come tourney time.

I'm sorry THEREALBODOYL I am unaware of your officiating credentials or those of Mr Hogue. Perhaps you could elaborate. Because if you knew ANYTHING about how officials are assigned you would know that BSC is a feeder for the ACC and officials work both ACC AND Big South games. So obviously, you are ignorant of that fact.
I have had a chuckle by reading the posts about slapping the backboard (which is NOT an automatic technical.) Hanging on the rim and Lord knows what else.
Its bad enough that LU fans spout off but at least they don't flaunt their ignorance like you or "The Voice of the Big South." I would like to see him or you run up and down the floor and call a game. What if the offiicals came to your place of work and criticized you in front of every body for the way you sit in your chair, talk on the phone etc. I wonder how Matt would respond to the officials making snide remarks about his broadcast.

Good grief. Stay away from subjects you know absolutely NOTHING about. The old adage "It is better to be silent and have people think you are stupid, then open your mouth and let people KNOW you are stupid"

Oh, I was started to wonder if he had fallen on his sword after their last loss. Most fans are pretty fun to banter with, some are a little out in left field (part of being a fan!) and then there is shakes. His identity has been known by many for a couple of years and every once in a while he rears his head. The last funny thing he said was that Coastal and Liberty had a reckoning at the "Coliseum," but then came that loss at Radford. Haven't seen him post a thing since.

Come on bodoyle- you've got to know about Realist-Shakeshoes!

i wouldn't necessarily call the bsc a feeder for the acc. guys like karl hess, ray natili, jamie luckie, roger ayers, etc. have been calling both bsc and acc games for several years. it's not like those guys had to do bsc games and then "graduate" up to the acc - they've always done both.

i'd say it's geographics more than anything else.

and the majority of those misses came in the last 5 minutes. that's the main reason why a 19 point lead disappeared so quickly.

Only 6 assists.

19 turnovers.

They took 10 more shots than us... and that was the difference.

Oh well, gotta figure out a way to beat them. We won't go anywhere this season if we don't beat them, since they're not going to lose in the tourney unless it's to us. The only way they could possibly lose in the tourney is if VMI is the 8 and VMI has a lights out shooting day in the first round. Otherwise, it's a collision course. We just need to take care of business and keep winning. The 2 seed is ours if we want it. We have to stick with it and claim it.

You would be partially incorrect. Roger Ayers, Natilli, Eades and several others started out in the BSC and others like it. What? You think they just 'show up' and do ACC games? So you will see several officials that work and ACC game one nite and a BSC game the next. Maybe b/c they have the same assignor? hmmmm

i reread my post and maybe i made it sound a little too simple. of course i understand that they don't just get ACC games automatically. those guys all had to pay their dues for sure. i only meant that now that they have been in the biz for several years...they're the same guys most nights doing both leagues. in other words, the bsc doesn't have slouches for refs.

Haze:

1) We (as in me and one of your posters, jbock) were joking about the officiating so get your stuff out of a bundle. I don't think anyone was overly impressed with the zebras.
2) I get yelled at all day long at my job, I just don't care b/c it isn't my fault they're mad. Good try though.
3) I didn't say slapping the backboard was a tech, that was the almighty SuperJon. Please show me where I said it was a tech. Maybe I'm blind.
4) You're right. What was I thinking. I know nothing about basketball. I only worked/learned from one of the best collegiate basketball coaches in the history of the game.
5) If you would read, I was openly critical about Matt, and to Matt before. He takes it well, trust me, I know.
6) You might want to learn your sayings while you're at it. The saying is "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt."

I think you guys have the blueprint to beat us, it's just a matter of execution now. Other teams in the league don't have the talent to keep up with us. You guys have that covered. Now it's just a matter of who executes better.

The odds are that, when teams that are doing as well as LU and CCU are paired up three times in a season, neither team will go undefeated. If LU's only win against CCU has to come in the Big South Tournament, I am OK with that!

I think it's hard for anyone to beat a team 3 times in a year no matter how good the other team is. Each time you play a team they learn more about you. You have less to hide, unless you pull a VMI (I think it was them) from a few years ago and go Princeton on everyone

With that said, the match-ups in the regular season are completely different than the match-up in the post-season. Post-season is a completely different animal.

No. The teams are the same and the chances that CCU will beat LU three times in a row are very slim. LU will get the last laugh! I can't wait.
