I think the doom and gloom on recruits is a bit premature. Pretty sure Soko is gone, but Perez and Barnes went to private christian schools and may be bought into the school as much as the coach. I really don't see a mass defection of more current players either, but time will tell.

I really am disappointed that McKay would say the things he said right up to the wire and then do this.

There are some fascinating possibilities for replacements, and some would indeed be upgrades.

Coaches will change jobs in any conference...I mean, Bennett came to UVA from the Pac 10...but to leave for an assistant position? I'm just not getting it. I can see leaving for a head coaching position, but I just don't get this move, especially after only 2 years at LU.

I feel just as mad,upset,dissapointed,ticked,livid, etc. as everyone else. But what my earlier post was trying to convey is that here at LU we have a lot of coaches we can be thankful for. Just remember that.

Don't make such strong assumptions. There is another possibility that seems more likely. But I do agree this will be cleared up shortly.

Either I need to get a lot more realistic about where the program is and where it can go or we need to find someone who believes in the vision and means it when he says it.

I'm in a slightly different place than you. You can get away saying whatever you want. As an employee and the leader of a student support club, saying negative things looks really bad coming from me and can get me in trouble.

Coaches will always say they love the place and are there forever, right up until they leave. Unless you are a supporter of one of about 10 schools in the country, you can bet with about 99% certainty that your coach isn't going to retire there. People at WU said the same thing about Marshall, they were kidding themselves.

I figured with his history he would move on when the next opportunity presented itself---his resume reads as a guy who takes the next thing he can get his hands on to keep from actually being accountable for his current situation.

To be honest you'll probably be better off without him, although it looks like it may be rough for awhile.
