there is no way we'd get an at large bid. We have to win the tourney.

Remember guys if you want to see your bracketbuster opponent we play at Hofstra tonight (a place we have notoriously struggled-glorified gym) on ESPNU 7PM.

I agree that the ODU game is not as important as the others, but you still want to win. Plus, it could help us get a 15 seed as opposed to a 16 if we were to win the tourney.

Since this is the only game I will get to this year (unless we have the championship game at home...), I really want a win!

That and I have been talking smack to my students who are ODU fans. Nothing like matching team insults with a 14 year old.

I wish we were going to play Davidson, though...I really wanted to see Steph and Seth go head-to-head

do we expect this game to sell out?

I might be taking a group of people to the game and i was wondering if we should just wait and get tickets there or buy them online

also, and this is for our ODU fans, they dont happen to have discount tickets for students do they? because that would be great

If you get 20 tickets together, they're only $7.

I'm not sure it will sell out, but I wouldn't be surprised. we avg 6,300 per game (including midweek nights). Normally any saturday would sell out but this one is at ZZZZZZZZZZ 11AM. Our game tomorrow has been sold out for over and week and are being scalped. I would get the tix early... would be a shame to make the trip and not get in!!

ODU and VCU is a rivalry game, i'm sure ODU "gets up" more for that game than nearly any other regular season game they have...

Yes we definitely get up for VCU more then for most teams, but our season has really turned around in the last few weeks. We were playing soft and complaining when we were getting slapped around under the basket. Now we seemed to have just determined to be aggressive and focused and forget about the random nature of refs.
We have won 6 of the last 8 and in that swing our big man has gone from avg 15 pts and 7 rebounds to avg of 20 pts 10 rebounds.
Our refs work both the CAA and ACC. Which means they watch the ACC guys elbow people in the face and let it go... our young guys weren't used to that and were looking for help. Now we trade blows on the way to the basket and don't complain. VCU didn't have an offensive rebound in the whole first half.

Someone tell me about your team. I know you have Curry what do your other players do. I mean, spread offense, match up, Princeton style, run-n-gun? What is your rebound percentage compared to the rest of your league? (ODU leads the league in rebounding, :) but is next to last in free throws :( )
I saw your roster and some things perplexed me. You look like you either have light tall men or heavy guards. 6'5" guard is ten lbs heavier then your center?
I see you also have 10 guards... holy cow. I assume you run a 3 guard offense.... ever run with 4 guards?

haha, we run a 4 or 5 guard offense. Our "center' is redshirting this year.

Jesse Sanders is our PG and our offense runs through him. He had a triple double the other night, and had 9 points, 10 boards and 6 assists last night.
Seth, Kyle Ohman, and Anthony Smith are our scorers and can shoot lights out when they are on.
The rest of our team are role players at this point in their careers.

Cool thanks. Seems like we better lace 'em up tight against you guys. If the game becomes frantic run and gun you could kill us, but if its half court we have a big advantage. We have a nice group of big men that are tall but are also fast and accurate from beyond 12 ft. I saw your forwards are 215 & 220 lbs, our forwards are 215, 218, 245 and 250 lbs. The biggest three basically rotate as starters. Our coach subs like its a hockey match. Changes things at almost every stoppage of play. He will often rotate 5 in at a time which looks a little comical at the officials table.
Our forward Keyon Carter (soph) is 218, but leads our team in 3 pt percentage at nearly 50% (hit 4 in a row in one game). Gerald Lee (jr) is 6'10" 250 and actually runs the offense at the top of the key sometimes. (which is to say he's not a big lug). He is great at spinning and hitting at 15 feet as well as scrapping down below. VCU tried to play a diamond and one against him. He is second in the league in FT%. He needs about 40 points to reach the 1000 pt mark.
Looking forward to it!

I would post this over on your board, but I forgot my password so this is easier. Someone said that your bigs should be able to just dominate us. I'm sure Clemson, GMU, and Depaul all thought the same thing. Our "forwards" do a great job of fronting and denying entry to the post. We can play a solid half court game as well.

I don't know if we will win or not, if we do it will be one of the better wins we have all year, but it will be a good game. We don't get blown out. We will have a chance to win coming down the stretch.

I think the two advantages we have is (1) how athletic 2 of our big men are, and (2) the fact that we are legitimately 9 deep on our roster. If you only have 2 forwards to defend our 4 forwards you might get worn down by the end.
I agree about fronting and denying the entry pass, but that is one of the things that has changed in the last 8 games. Lee was getting hugged and laid on down low so the coach adjusted the offense. He no longer just goes down there waiting for the pass. He will handle the ball up top and force the other teams big man to come out and guard him (have to respect his outside shot and dribble penetration). He will then pass it to a guard on the wing and sprint to the low post. If the guard gets the ball back to him in stride he is almost impossible to stop at this point. It's almost like a delayed give and go. Most big men can't handle the ball up top, run full speed, catch and shoot in one smooth motion. If you can stop that then you have a good chance at beating us.
We have another guard/forward (Ben Finney) that is explosive and is more of a slasher type player.
Do you know how they assign officials in bracketbuster games? Visiting team conference, mixture of both?

No clue about officials.

We only have 2 forwards on our roster, but we have alot of 6'4"-6'6" guys we play as forwards. We also play alot of zone, 1-3-1, 2-3, 3-2. Also half court and 3/4 court traps. Coach really mixes defenses up well.

CAA, ACC and big south have the same pool of officials for the most part. There will probably be officials there that we all recognize. As for the advantage inside that ODU may think they have, they are pretty talented inside but I don't think they will dominate Liberty in the interior. No one has really done that this year. Plus Austin Smith is 6-9 and playing more. Also Tyler Baker is 6-9 and plays well at times especially when he is fresh. I think he is still actually getting his game legs under him after being out for a whole season plus 1 semester.

Here are the news highlights of the VCU game.
If you notice half way through (after the block) the next sequence is what I have mentioned where are 6'10" 250 lb forward is bringing the ball up, spins (gets double teamed) and finds a a guy for a wide open 3.
