looks like USC is interested
JeffRabjohns Jeff Rabjohns
Evan Gordon also has gotten interest from USC, others; planning Arizona St visit, still sifting through options, his dad said.

I think Evan is definitely a talented player who hasn't reached his potential. And name recognition on the left coast probably doesn't hurt either.

Does it seem odd that AZ State was in the mix so early?

you can add USC. Both were in it early. Plus it's being reported (don't know if this is true) but he would walk-on his redshirt year at UCLA.

Now another interesting scenario that someone threw out on scout is that Evan and his little bro Erron are a package deal. Erron is currently the number one ranked prospect in 2016.

it's interesting to say the least because ACC, Big East, Pac-10 and Big 12 all inquired interest.

So what you're saying is Evan is the least talented of his family and is going to cash in on his name and play at a BCS school because they want his little brother who is in seventh grade right now.

It sounds like Eric Sr is playing a vital role in this as well. Which is a shame seeing he's an LU alum and all.

I don't usually put a lot of weight behind rumors, and as of yet I don't with this one either. But even just the thought of this being true just made me throw up in my mouth.

Let me just say this the Evan and Eron was just talk a couple of posters were throwing out there.

Seriously would you not be surprised? They do alot of this in BCS recruiting. Offer 7th and 8th graders (USC had a 7th grade commit, Taylor King committed to UCLA in 8th grade, and I believe Indiana has a couple 8th grade commits)

Plus they always offer parents/aau coaches jobs. (Baylor and Clifton for example) or USC offering Lil Romeo a scholarship (he wouldnt even last in LU intramurals) to get Demar Derozan.

Evan is talented and isnt nearly as bad as some make him out to be but again I was just throwing out some talk as in maybe Eric Sr. is marketing Evan w/ Eron because Eron is going to get major offers soon

sounds like hes basically down to two schools ASU and USC

from ESPN
Evan Gordon, 6-foot-2 guard from Liberty (and younger brother of Eric Gordon), spent two years in the Big South before he decided a change of college scenery was needed. The sophomore declared his intention to transfer recently and Jeff Rabjohns of the Indianapolis Star has an updated list of where Gordon -- the Flames' leading scorer (14.4 pgg) -- is looking. At the moment, both Arizona State and USC seem to be main options; Gordon will soon take a visit to Tempe.

It's worth noting that the Sun Devils are looking to quickly correct the offensive problems they experienced last season. Though Gordon (if he does indeed transfer to ASU) would have to sit out a season, his addition would give Herb Sendek's squad a definite offensive spark. A prolific three-point shooter (336 attempts in two seasons), Gordon could use the extra season to work on his outside marksmanship (33.7 percent in 2011); the Sun Devils will need some perimeter scoring in 2012 as well as 2013.

And as we have mentioned, Gordon is not the only transfer interested in ASU; former Iowa State guard Chris Colvin has already visited the campus and is also being courted by South Carolina and Providence -- two schools that are in need of backcourt depth.

Thanks for the link, jetlife1090. Nice job on your writing. But for the record, our location is spelled Lynchburg. You might want to correct the copy if you still can.

Thanks. Fixed the spelling!

Also something not in the post but worth mentioning: I saw a few comments in this thread about Gordon slumping toward the end of the year, and I wanted to see if this was true beyond the eye-test and PPG. So I took his average Offensive Rating for the year and then developed a table of how much better or worse he performed in each game from his average performance. From there, I used a trendline to show the general trend...and the results don't lie. He progressed quite well up until the mid-point of the season, and then his ORtg fell much quicker than it rose.

Great chart. That downward trend likely coincided with the decision in his mind to leave. His attitude on the court the second half of the season was very disappointing to most of us FlameFans. And clearly his production was reflective of this attitude.

i think were alreadya better team without Evan. Having a bigger guard in the rotation on the wing in Speaks who wants to play makes us better in my book. I'd seen enough of Gordon doing nothing but shoot 3's and drive to the basket wildly. Id much rather have a consistent level headed player than a guy who drops 25 then 7 the next 2 games to go along with horrible shooting percentages. i understand that his only chance at the next level is to play the point so hopefully that works out for him, because i think it's already worked out for us.

I bet if you plot a chart like that of Seth's freshman year it will look eerily similar.
