I'm positive we have plenty of places in Lynchburg that we could turn into student housing if we ever went that route. LU can throw up a dorm in 8 months, I think we'd be fine.

my understanding is that if it is a "benefit" available to ANY/ALL students (not just athletes) then the NCAA won't ding you for it.

I'm SURE I will be corrected if wrong 8)

The sticking point is that LU can't provide it. If LCA were to build a dorm of its own, that's perfectly acceptable.

This is currently already being done by David Beniot...he had one player named David Dukas (sp?) at LCA last year that will be a great D1 player. he ended up transferring to a school out in Las Vegas. They have a few players at LCA but they are still young but I just dont think we'll see another David for a while.

LCA girls also have a girl Dave brought in. Coach Green has made the comment he'd take her today. I dont think she's but a soph though.....its just though to keep kids here to stay b/c you know the emotional roller coaster kids are, then add in they are in a different country and that's a lot to handle.

Most of the Cypress Christian kids are from Africa or Eastern Bloc countries.

Ancient history here, but back in the 70's there were at least 2 bball players at LCA who came from the Boston area and I believe they lived with families from the church, although I saw them around the "campus"  quite a bit. One was Lonnie Gomes, who is kin to Ed. I can't remember the name of the other kid.

I'm sure this is doable, but not so sure it's a path we want to go down, especially if there is a realistic expectation of having a full-fledged boarding program any time soon.

Can you use that sort of language onthis board?? Or were you misspelling the knickname of my favorite NEW Big South Team Presbyterian?

As for Little D, I am going out on a limb and saying we aren't going to offer. Call it a gut feeling I have. He will be a nice player at the next level.

I just now got the time to watch the press conference. I'm excited. I have another year, three if the grad program gets started. Hopefully I can help the change student wise.

The locals just have too many inside jokes about "swimming pools" (and "cartwheels") that are New Mexico fans aren't going to get, but if you all from out west have questions, just ask. :D

I'm not so sure that "Greg Who" will be doing any cartwheels soon if he fails to capiltalize on his accomplishments and land a better job, and ends up returning to his Martin-less and Bradshaw-less Eagles.

If he gets the cash that's been thrown around I think he'll be okay.

He'll be ok $-wise, but career-wise he may have missed an opportunity to move forward. Martin and Bradshaw were special. Without them, Winthrop never makes a splash on the national scene. And now, of course, he'll have to deal with McKay and Co., if he stays at WU 8)

Have you guys ever stopped to think that maybe Gregg and his family are reasonably HAPPY where they are? S. Florida is going to be a perrenial also-ran in the Big East with no shot of going to the tournament.

Then why hasn't he signed the new contract WU has offered?

I tend to agree with you. But somehow I get the feeling that GM thinks he can in with anything with a bunch of walk-ons. They still will have a bunch of talent returning, but those two guys took that program to a whole new level.

There still is probably a week and a half left of the coaching carousel with jobs attractive enough for him to leave. WU is not out of the woods quite yet.

As for the original topic of this thread, I'd love to be a fly int he wall in the offices downstairs in the Vines as the new staff works the phones right now.

I ran into Anthony Smith and Justin Holland on the bus today going back to the dorm and asked them if they missed RD and Anthony, immediately--without hesitation, said "absolutely not." He also said that they are real happy with McKay and the way things have gone so far.

Just a note to pass on.

Wow! That is very harsh. I can't believe that, especially this early after he was let go.
