And it wasn't a school record.

I think most of us realized this could happen. But thankfully we won't be playing the Sooners (or schools of their calibre) ona nightly basis.

Nah, we just have to go to Florida, we have to play Oral Roberts and Seton Hall, and have I mentioned Winthrop could probably beat all of those except for Florida? Yea, we're good to go.

so we lost to a traditonally good big 12 team....did anyone actually think we were going to win? we are clearly not ready for this type of game just yet, so let's move on and hopefully get on a good win streak. the upcoming games on the schedule are very winnable..infact i think we could win all of our games till the buffalo game, but maybe im just being too optimistic.

the worst part was, they were begging to lose in the 1st half. There couldn't hit anything and were traveling all over the place. Too bad we couldnt get a shot either. One thing I heard waaay too much last night was "forces up a shot" and it's because the same thing is happening this year that happened last year. Like I said in the last couple of exhibitions I really don't see a ball handler yet. Apparently Jenkins is supposed to be but nobody can get the ball inside so there's a lot of perimeter lollygagging. I hate that. The only time that hasn't happened since I've been watching LU basketball is when Woodson was here. I guess we're gonna be a waste the shotclock kinda team until Brew is elligable.

I didn't get to watch or listen to the game but looking at the boxscore our starting lineup was minus B.J. Jenkins. So who is playing point guard? I suspect it is Larry Blair which really helps our opponent shut down his ability to score. Not only that Larry Blair's mindset is score first pass second. My other concern is when Brew needs a breather or is in foul trouble. This is not the lineup you want on the floor. We need BJ Jenkins to florish into at least a decent point guard rather quickly. I hope he gets a lot of playing time with the lesser opponents coming up at home.

Hubbard has been playing the point. I saw enough of that last year to see that is not what we want. BJ only played 9 minutes last night. Why? I think that's stupid. We need a point. Even with Brew I think we would be better off with someone else running the show with LB and Brew on the wing.

Damien Hubbard started at point. You have to remember that this was Tyler Baker and BJ Jenkin's 1st collegiate game. To top it off it was in a very tough place to play. I think BJ will be solid at the point. Brew will be a lot like Woodson in terms of breaking down a defense and forcing them to react and finding open men. Woodson was very valable in those areas. You don't have to run a play when he is on the floor because he just goes and creates an advantage for his team by penatrating. "Woodson is not walking through that door!" to paraphrase coach Pitino....On a side note, will people have to pay to watch FTN games this year? I didn't read too much when I tried to get the girls game last night because it wasn't that big of a deal but I am curious. I may have to purchase a package so I can watch the other big south games on the Edge.

I forgot Damien Hubbard was starting and would take up the role once again. Yeah I agree he is a horrible player at the point guard position. He is probably more suited for a power forward position but I probably would have him coming of the bench. I rather have Tyler Baker and Alex Mclean at the forward positions with Smith, Blair, and Brew at the guard positions. Have Hubbard, Porter, and Monroe substitute for Baker and Mclean when needed. Of course I am not at practice and can't see what combinations work best so I will leave that to the Coach.

Good thought about Brew, but he would have to be on board with it. I believe he came here because he was promised that he would play the point guard which is a position he desperately wants to play from my understanding.

I don't think its wise for Tyler to step in as a starter. He should be used off the bench early, though. Hopefully he will gain some confidence and start stroking it. If he heats up, coach should ride it. If not, put in Rell who we all know is a hard worker and will do the little things. I think the lineup should be, BJ, Larry, Smith, Porter, Mclean, with Baker and Hubbard coming off the bench seeing good minutes. I agree Hubbard isn't the answer at PG but that does not mean he should be overlooked completely.

Also, who else wants to see #5 step up and score a little bit. I'm tired of watching the Larry show and shouldn't be forced to way til Dec. 16 to watch a decent team.

Can anyone say they were suprised by this game? We did what we were supposed to do. Go out, get blown out earlier and claim a "moral victory" for "stepping it up in the second half". Yawn. With more games against the likes of Houghton we will not get a good baramoter on this team until conference season starts. How can you judge how good you are if you play teams that a VASTLY superior to you and VASTLY (theoretically, we all remember Bellmont, Longwood) inferior to you. When you play "similar" competition, then you can judge yourself. Or as the great philosopher said in a heated debate:
"I don't keep score Judge"
"Then how do you measure yourself against others?"
"By Height"

It is only one game

It's a meathod of scheduling. We need to make money, but we also need to keep player spirits up. So they get killed for the money and get cupcakes for moral. I too would like to see some competition on the same level. I think it would better prepare us for BSC games. But if you don't win them and you're still getting killed for the money games, your team is gonna have a lot of confidence problems come January.

Everyone expected us to lose. No one is really upset at that. The word around campus from the people I've talked to is one of "We have to have more than four people score." One person brought up that Rell only shot once in 21 minutes. Baker missed all 4 or 5 of his shots in 21 minutes.

The way I see it is that I expected it to be a 40 point lose by the way we were shooting and turning the ball over. I am thankful it didn't get totally out of hand. I think that we were beaten convincingly but certainly not embarrassed like we were against Maryland and Miami of Ohio a few years ago. We can certainly do much better with what we have and when Dwight becomes eligible it will give us the point guard we need to be competitive. In the meantime I just hope that we don't get beat by some of these "scrub teams" on our schedule.
