Pretty much anyone with a keyboard, a functioning brain and these days an iPhone or an iPad and in some cases an axe to grind (not saying that our friend here does mind you) can turn into a "journalist". Anybody can claim to have a "source close to the program" or something (and its some guy who has a friend who happened to bump into the head equipment manager in line at Sheetz) but there is a reason why the guys like our resident scribe are the ones who get paid to report the news.

I sure hope Sly is right, because I would hate to find out that he's "all hat and no cattle."

(yea, I stole the quote from Celebrity Apprentice last night).

I did figure you were aware of the sarcasm.

I love the Apprentice. Normally I cant stand the celebrity shows, but they do such a good job picking them.

Ahem... back to Evan Gordon before I get yelled at :D

Oh, I read that BJ, but if you really understood my OBVIOUS sarcasm, why did you feel the need to say "probably", and elaborate about how credible Sly is? It's not like I'm a newbie here myself. I know who he is.

Which would be Evan Gordan transferring. I feel like we will have several options to play the off guard next year. If we sign Speaks, he will be in the mix, but I look for JC to work his butt off in the off season and win the opportunity to start in the backcourt with his big bro. Don't rule out the possibility of Minaya moving back to play some guard too, especially if Andrew Smith is as good as advertised and gets major minutes at the 3.

Fellas, with the drama hopefully removed from the equation we have the possibility of being VERY good next season. Can you ever think of a better opportunity to punch our ticket than with a senior Jesse Sanders running the show. The rest of the league can't wait until he is finally gone.

And for the record, Mrs. Sly & I never miss Celebrity Apprentice. The Meatloaf/Busey dynamic is the best drama on television.

Most people who transfer schools don't do nearly as well at the school they go to as they would've at the school they leave.

Let's look at Liberty people who transferred over the last few years. Of all of those, and it's a lot, only two improved and were successful: BJ Jenkins and Seth Curry.

David Dees didn't improve.
Austin Smith didn't improve.
Chris Perez didn't improve.
Patrick Konan didn't improve.

The question becomes do you tough it out and play at a place where you may not be 100% happy and have success or do you go some other place where you may not be 100% happy and not be as successful? The grass always looks greener, but that's normally because the cows have been crapping in that field.
I essentially agree with your premise SJ, although I'm wondering how you evaluated whether Konan and Perez improved. Have you been sneaking into practices at Stetson and Vermont? 8)

In the other direction, Minaya struggled after transferring here, but certainly improved this year.
Konan is at New Hampshire.

LOL I LOVE that show this year. Sooo glad that weasel Hatch is gone. Such a poser. And how about that Mary Matlin!! hubba-hubba!! Next to go should be Star Jones, she is, to quote literature, all sound and fury signifying nothing.
Plus, if you actual LISTEN to what Busey says, it is pretty deep stuff. Love the "Hug it out" moment with he and Loaf. "That's MY PAINT" LOLL
As for hoops, we are, graciously, a mid major, with a bunch of coaching changes. You will see that shools at 'this level' have a lot of transfers to begin with and with the Dial A Coach we have had recently, that is only going to be a higher number. Who ever said CONSISTENCY was the key, should get a gold star. When we have stability at the top, we will have success and stability down the line. I like Layer, watched their practices and talked to him on a few occasions. Hope he stays!
On a side note, it is natural for any Frosh or even Soph to be disillusioned and think about transferring. They were probably the Big Dog in HS, or at least one of them, and now may have a roll they are unaccustomed too b/c they can't do in college what they did in HS. Plus, the standards and demands are greater then most are used to. I liken it to former Bob Knight players. If you asked them at the end of the 1st year what they thought of him it wouldn't be very flattering. Ask them after their 4th year and they do a 180. Just human nature.

That's got to be a first: Purple dropping an F-bomb on FF.

(For those of you still in the dark, he's quoting William Faulkner of Yoknapatawpha fame).

I kind of feel that Marlee probably won't be fired because she's deaf. I don't mean that as that she uses that as a crutch, she obviously doesn't. But I mean there's just certain tasks that she can't do, so that gives her less of an opportunity to mess up. Kind of like we all know that Mr. Rock of Whores won last year because he had a brain hemorrage. But let me be clear, it's not their fault.

Anyways, I'd like to see Evan Gordon on Celebrity Apprentice.

I know how much you love Faulkner Cider, and "The Sound and the Fury" was an excellent novel, but I feel fairly confident that Purple was quoting Shakespeare in McBeth.

"Life's but a walking shadow. A poor player who struts and frets his hour on the stage, and then is heard no more. It is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing."

I think it's probably safe to say that this was also Faulkner's source for his title.

If Shakesepeare was good enough for Faulkner to quote, I'm sure it's good enough for Purple, though I'd love to hear which one he was actually referencing. Study

Yes. Although I was going with Faulkner, knowing it WAS one of Billy's quotes. That was the most difficult book for me to read in my 20th Cent American Lit class!!! I didn't necessarily enjoy it, but I felt like I accomplished something when I was through it!

visiting Arizona State.....Col of Charleston and Butler are his other choices
Evan Gordon, a Div. I transfer who last season led Liberty in scoring, is visiting Arizona State this weekend.

Gordon, 6-foot-2 and 185 pounds, considers himself a scoring point guard. The brother of Los Angeles Clippers guard Eric Gordon, he averaged 14.4 points and 2.2 assists as a sophomore, shooting 33.7 percent from 3-point range (208 attempts) for the Flames, who finished second in the Big South Conference.

ASU's interest first was reported by ASUDevils.com

"I'm just looking for an opportunity," Gordon said by phone Tuesday. "ASU is a great school. I can probably play the point-guard position or on the wing. I love Coach (Herb) Sendek. I've known about him since he was at North Carolina State."

Gordon also is considering the College of Charleston. Butler also is a possibility. If he transfers to another Div. I school, he'd have to sit out a season, which he said would give him a chance to refine his game. Gordon then would have two years of eligibility left.

In March, Gordon, who played mostly scoring guard last season, told The News & Advance in Lynchburg, Va., that he preferred to play the point at his next stop. On Tuesday, he said he's aware that ASU has signed Mesa High's Jahii Carson, but he said he feels there's room for both in the Sun Devils' offense.

"I'm not in a hurry (to pick a school)," Gordon said. "But I've done my research. (ASU) is a large school and it's in the Pac-10. You can never go wrong with Pac-10 basketball."

I think the whole "I want to play point guard" thing is going to end up being just the excuse he used to get out. To actually end up at a school where he will be THE PG he will most likely have to move down in level from Liberty. I just don't see the skills for that position, especially in taking care of the ball and decision making.

I really think Evan is more of a 2 guard trying to be a point guard. I agree with FH in his assessment that he just doesnt make the kind of decisions that a point guard ought to be making.

Wasn't the last PAC-10 national champion Arizona...................in 1997? The PAC-10 had those string of UCLA championships in the 70's, then 2 in the 90's......that's it. Yeah, PAC-10 basketball rulez!
