Tell the other schools to up their seating to 4000 and they can get in the game as well. If they can definitely lock down a civic center nearby (Coastal, CSU, Asheville) then they can be in it as well. There's no way that Asheville, CSU, CCU, and HPU should be able to host.SOme shots from the 04 championship:

The problem comes in the 2nd round.I agree that there are benifits to having the home team in the final (although I think you could have made that point without being harsh to Mr. Williams.)

I think that is the only place where the Big South would step in and make them move it. They should do it for all that you listed...

Does the Big South get any ticket money from these games or does all of the money go to the host?

Big South Gets Ticket Money... Which is why Everyone has to buy their own tickets... unless its family of course

TylerBakersGonnaBGreat wrote:If the games are held in UNCA's gym and not moved to a bigger place, there is a chance that they will have to turn people away (or people will just stay away because they don't think they'll be able to get a ticket). That will mean fewer tickets sold. That will mean less money made off of ticket sales. And that will mean less money for the Big South. Now, who knows how much less... the winners of the first round games will decide a lot of that. My point (if I really have one) is that it would be in the best interest of the Big South if the tournament was held at a bigger place.horrez wrote:Huh?TylerBakersGonnaBGreat wrote:Hmmm.... so UNCA not moving it is going to cost the Big South money.

The Bulldogs had the option of moving the tournament to the larger Asheville Civic Center, which can seat at least 5,000 for basketball.http://www.citizen-times.com/apps/pbcs. ... BASKETBALL
The Civic Center would have played better on TV. More people could have the opportunity to watch the tournament in person. The Big South probably would have made more money. But when it came time to make a decision, Asheville athletic director Janet Cone decided to do what was best for her basketball program.

Fumblerooskies wrote:You can forget about UNCA moving the tourney to the Civic Center:I actually spoke with a high level member of the Athletic Department sunday and talked about the options. They want to keep it at Justice which really is a smart move for UNCA. First its spring break this week so while the community turn-out will be fine if the event was moved to the civic center odds are that most students won't be back from break yet -- and fans from other teams would get the majority of the tickets. Thus--playing on campus truly ensures the home court advantage. Furthermore, comfort level for the players -- most of whom have never played at the civic center, a BIG deal. The Bulldogs had the option of moving the tournament to the larger Asheville Civic Center, which can seat at least 5,000 for basketball.http://www.citizen-times.com/apps/pbcs. ... Not the prettiest place in the world, but huge for a school that size.ahem, our place seats anywhere from 9-10k, (it's somewhat disputed).
The home of the Runnin’ Bulldogs, 4,500-seat Paul Porter Arena, is one of the most intimidatingvenues in the Atlantic Sun Conference
