I'm watching the Carolina/Ohio State game right now. If Carter can develop that little jump hook that Tyler Zeller just made, he could be a very very tough person to defend. He tried one tonight and missed so you can tell he's working on it, just gotta get it working.

Can't run any kind of offense. I just have trouble seeing any bright spots. We know Jesse is a good PG, but that's not helpful unless somebody else can make a basket. McMasters is a pretty good post defender, but that's only slightly helpful when nobody else can rebound. This is just an awful awful team. Our worst in many years. I'm sure some of these players have potential but I certainly don't see it against the likes of Clemson, ODU, and most likely Notre Dame. I'm practically moving on to next season in my head. The only reason I haven't comitted is because the BSC looks pretty awful all around so maybe conference play will be a little more fun. And promising.

Also, I'm pretty sure that's the end of Tyler Baker's career. I feel real bad for the kid.
idk how bad the big south is, i mean i was on the RU board earlier and apprently duke looks beatable this year? so theres that
Lynchburg College competed with Radford - well as much as a D3 of our caliber can against a solid D1 team. Only down by 15 with 9:49 left in the game when Radford was still playing the players that started. If Radford has trouble with turnovers against LC, what do they expect to do against a team like Duke? Only time Radford comes close to beating Duke is in their dreams.

I've only seen this team in the actual games and there are a bunch of guys, I have no idea what their game is. Minaya, Gordon, Perez, are they shooters? Are they slashers? Do they pass? I guess I could say the same thing for Jeremy Anderson because he certainly doesn't shoot this year.

Welcome to the board...

...and I will live up to my reputation of being "that guy"...

Where have we been? We had one year of success with an ACC level guard, combined with a coach that gave him a Kobe/DWade style green light. Other than that, when have we ever been a national power competing with Clemson and ODU? In fact, we got blown out by this same ODU team last year. Mens' Basketball isn't a dynasty ... a .500ish season and a 5th place Big South finish is probably average, if not above average, if you add up the results of the past 15 years. We've won the Big South twice... that's it. So I don't think this is anything more than feeling the effects of being left out to dry with less than half of the players that were brought in to make this team great.

We're still on our way up. McKay and Curry made the trip up seem like we were closer to the top than we really were, and we took a bit of a fall, but we're still on the way up. That's for sure.

Just returned to Richmond from the game with my 5-year old son.

First, your arena is really nice, and I was pleased to see that folks were as friendly as I expected. I really like your student chants...clean and funny, and particularly liked the prayer prior to tipoff - not something I see at state schools!

Second, contrary to what we expected, you really did not look ready to play. The defense we played was man-to-man, which is not our benchmark defense, and there were just too many "mental" turnovers. Don't know why, but expected you guys to be up for the game, and did not appear to be the case.

Finally, who leads your team? Ohlman last year in Norfolk was confident and effective. Not tonight. In fact, did not see anyone really step up, and your offense looked tentative, at best. The best efforts were on Lee for defense, but we have a ton of talented bigs, and the others stepped up.

Hope you guys find your leader and offensive confidence. I have a ton of respect for what the school stands for, and appreciated the environment you provided this evening. Best of luck for your remainder of OOC and in the Big South.

Thanks a ton smitty. I don't know how we're going to find a leader and step it up on offense this year but hopefully someone will step it up.

Thanks for the welcome. How can you say we are on the way up? 29-6 run to start the game. 5th place in the BSC is average? I honestly think we are way off talent wise.

I admitted this year is a dip in the road, but with the guys we have coming in and the coach we have leading us, things will get better. But we lost a lot, and this year will be a little down, but not much. You're basing your thoughts on Clemson and ODU, two borderline top 25 teams. Talk to me when we play Presby and Chuck South. :)

Remember, we played Mason within 4, on the road. It's not like we're incapable of scoring and competing. We've just faced two REALLY good teams. It's he equivalent of football opening the year with WVU and then Cincinnati. We wouldn't be talking about being on a "down year" then, would we?

+1

Not even our 2 departed friends in Charlottesville & Durham could have helped up win against Clemson & ODU, which Coach Layer described as two top-30 teams. When we beat UVa last year, they were no where near the caliber of this year's Clemson & ODU teams.

Guys, thanks for the hospitality last night. We had an enjoyable trip and everyone we met was extremely gracious. Your facility is really nice and you have some talent. Your guys are young and are still adapting to a new offense. Give it time. You'll be alright.

By the way, did anyone hear one of your announcers comment that it was a "Rodney King-like beating?"

“It’s too early in the season to start reaching out in desperation,” Sanders said. “But we’ve got to get something figured out on offense. We’ve got to get some kind of efficiency, some kind of cohesiveness between the players. We have very little right now.”

I wonder if this goes beyond just offense on the court. Anyone with insight into the chemistry on this team? Obviously we are looking for leaders on the court but how about off?

ODU is a very good team and your are right about the fact that we should be competitive against these types of teams especially on your home floor. I think that it was a matter of us not matching up well against there size and other factors. We didn't fare much better last year against this same team. We are still adjusting to a new coach and what he is trying to establish as far as game strategy. I am a little concerned right now with the poor perfomances of the last 2 games but not ready to give up on them. Now if we lose like this in the Big South then we got some serious issues. The BS sucks this year.

Stop me if you've heard this one before, but it looks like we're in (another) rebuilding year. Again.

I think we're like the Pittsburgh Pirates at this point.

Geez. I know how everyone says "we're in a rebuilding year" but this is more like a "re-demolition" year.
