It's officially "old-hag" material but the Big South Champ. game in '04 shows you just how tough a place the Vines is to play in when it's rocking.

If you think we're further away then 2 years then I think you're mistaken...Jr year? This kid will hopefully have himself surrounded by a few more top 50 recruiting classes...ughhh ohhhh

Come on, just last year, we struggled to break 2500.

When we start consistantly averaging 7500, we can MAYBE...MAYBE start talking about having some sort of system. We had a little over 4100 for the GMU game which probably is the most well known team we're going to bring in to the Vines for the rest of the season.

fair enough...I just really believe we'll have plenty of sell outs 2-3 years from now

I'm with you HMO. I was saying the same thing before the season started, and people weren't buying it. We got 6000 last to see Kenny George play. And we don't think we can draw 6000 consistently to see Seth & co?! Seth will be getting more pub than Kenny did.

It's happening guys. Here's a great article from Andy Katz:

http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/blog/ind ... =katz_andy
"He's special," McKay said of Seth Curry. "He's got maturity. He's a Curry. He's got all the character and the humility. He has invigorated our program."
It doesn't take long after these guys from the 4 letter network start giving Seth and LU press for the whole sports world to take notice.

My concern...

One of the reasons why it's great to watch a basketball game in the Vines is the students get so in to it. The atmosphere is awesome!

But what happens when we have to start selling more and more tickets? Do we shrink the student section? Do we price college kids out of admission in favor of people who can afford it? People who, if you've ever sit on the Baptist side during a football game, are, to say the least, not as enthusiastic as dedicated Flame Fans?

The red seats on the Baptist side are still less than a quarter full. Anybody know how much those cost?

The students have already found the blue seats next to the red Baptist side seats.

This post is about Seth Curry, Stephen's younger brother, who -- you guessed it -- is also apparently really good at basketball. He's a freshman at Liberty, and most recently helped the Flames topple big, bad George Mason in overtime. Curry had 22 points.

Respect from the Mason message board:
Curry could start for any team in the CAA right now, and he would get at least 15 minutes coming off the bench for a lot of ACC schools.

there is a very short list of espn personalities (well short relative to the number of personalities they have nowadays) I actually like, and Andy Katz has always been on there. I bet Jason Whitlock would love him, Katz always gives credit to the smaller teams or outstanding players on smaller teams when the credit is due.

Jay Bilas would easily be on that list, which is impressive since I pretty much hate Duke basketball and everything and everyone thats ever been directly associated with it.

Bill Walton (he's "unique" and knowledgeable) provided one of the funniest comments I've ever heard on there. During the NBA all-star celebrity game last year a trade was made at half-time of the game sending one of his teams best players to the opponent and he said "This is one of the greatest travesties in Western civilization." Doesn't sound funny now, but I founder it hilarious when it happened

Erin Andrews (because shes hot), Michael Wilbon, Bill Simmons, Buster Olney, Kenny Mayne (he's hilarious), Bob Ley (one of the few ESPN originals remaining!), Steve Lavin (not that great of an announcer, but he is as knowledgable as they come with the ESPN college hoops announcers), tim kurkjian, bob knight (he might just be the most knowledgable guy espn currently has), peter gammons, len elmore, jimmy dykes (he tends to obsess over one issue some games but knows what hes talking about most games), lee corso (how can you not like it when he goes nuts picking the game being played at the site of gameday?), and chris berman.

This one isn't so much a Remember the Name as a Connect the Dots. Even casual college hoop fans know the name Curry. Now, I've challenged myself to write about Seth without mentioning a certain other someone, but I'm sure you're clever enough to put two and two together and figure out this kid's bloodline.

But we're not here to talk about the past. Seth Curry is the present and the future for Big South member Liberty.

Also from Manson's article:
Somebody at Virginia Tech (alma mater of Seth's pops) needs to take a long, hard look at the recruiting process and figure out if there are any more Curry kids out there. I don't care if it's a cousin and he's seven years old. Sign him.

I'm just hoping Seth keeps a level head amidst all this pub. I am a little concerned about where his head is after his post on his facebook wall

We'll keep track of your awards, Seth. You keep focused on hitting big shots and getting this team to the NCAA's again.

You have to believe they will be staying for the game Saturday, and possibly even going to Clemson. That's some great pub.
