I'd think Marshal could have about any open job in the country and rightfully so.

Serious question. How will he respond when Basketball is second fiddle to football if he takes either job?

He has never had to deal with a Football Program, let alone a Football Program that comes 1st in the hearts and minds of the fan base. It is a legit question.

I could actually see him taking this one though. I could see Shaka taking it too. Grant would get the VCU job again before Will Wade of Chattanooga though. If not Mike Rhodes from Rice.

2nd fiddle seems to be working out OK at Wisconsin & Michigan State. Both Marshall & Smart will find it excetionally difficult to tun down the gig in Austin. Frankly I'm not sure who I would be chasing if I were Patterson.

You don't know Michigan State if you think Basketball is "2nd Fiddle." MSU's success in football is a blip (albeit a sustained one at present).

I wouldn't get too excited about flight information over a week old. I am sure the Williamsburg trip was for Jerry to attend Pat Robertson's 85th birthday party. Not every flight is tied to a search. 8)

As successful as hoops has been from Magic to Izzo ... football remains king in the attention of Sparty fans unless something dramatic has changed in recent years.

My wife is a UM fan, but ALL of her family roots for MSU. All I ever hear about is basketball. Even in Football season. Same for MSU fans I knew in Cadillac.

Totally grasping at straws here.
FGCU started to win when he was fired. He was 10-16 this year at D2 Palm Beach Atlantic. It wasn't him.

also THIS from Manson:
MANSON wrote:It sounds like Athletic Director Jeff Barber is travelling from Lynchburg to meet the candidates elsewhere, and he is doing so commercially. So, that defeats the ability to track planes.

If that's the case Jeff could be anywhere because Lynchburg has over 160* direct flights......

Would rather have Spiker at Army, but Brett Reed is also a strong candidate from the Patriot League.

Dave Paulsen was up there a couple of years ago, but he's in his 50's and his last two years at Bucknell aren't exactly blowing the lid off. He was hired at GMU today, which is an interesting hire that either could be truly amazing or a complete bust. I hope Spiker is still on the list.

Assuming you mean Sutton, the question then is, which one?
I guess my spell checker didn't like Sutton! I figured if we get Scott we get Sean. Although I could see just Sean

It may not be Reed. Princeton great Pete Carril lives in the Lehigh Valley. He may be 84 years old, but heck... he's still Pete Carril! Anyway, I live up here in the Valley. Reed would definitely be making a career step forward in going to Liberty.
