No. The LU record is either 6 or 7.

But one of our coaches has made 8 in a game, and it was in the NCAA tournament.

Keep in mind also that HS games are only 32 minutes long.

there is a big talent gap in some of the teams he plays against. Again, never saw him play, but like I said 6'4" white kids who can stroke it are not rare. If he was 6'6" or taller then I'd be a little more excited

He's just finishing his sophomore year. He's the age of a junior, so there's still a chance he could grow another inch or two before graduating.

Yes, he did, and that was the record at the time. I believe Larry Jackson may have broken it with 7.

I would say how good Barber becomes will have a lot more to do with developing his overall skill set and adding some strength and explosiveness to his game than it will with growing an inch or 2.

He's still playing at the Under 16 level in AAU, so he's not that old for a Sophomore.

Aren't most Sophomore 16 yo? I know I was. CIDER of course started his Soph year at 15 and finished it at 18 but that's not the norm...

Nowadays they are 16. "In my day" . . . I started my sophomore year at 14 yo and had b-day in December when I turned 15. Was 5'9" then and graduated at 6'2" as a 17 yo. Grew another inch and a half as frosh in college when freshmen did not play varsity (Lew Alcindor, Pete Maravich and me) - yep, that old :)

I think Larry Jackson and Larry Blair have hit 8 threes in a game. Maybe it was just 7. I don't have my media guides handy these days or I would look it up. But I would say that hitting shots in AAU or HS vs hitting shots in college games in a division 1 environment is like night and day!

For the record I hit 5 in a game and it was the record at the time. Of course the three point line was a relative new rule in my playing days and coaches really didn't emphasize it like they do now. True story: I hit 4 threes before half time in a game vs Brooklyn College my senior year and I was feeling the heat on my hands. Then my coach told me that "we don't need anymore threes" at halftime. I was such a youngster that I don't think I took another one in the second half. Coach wanted to get the ball inside. I remember being mad and confused but I was a team player so I listened. Part of me always believed that was said to me to appease another star player that didn't want me to outshine him but I have never had that discussion with the coach or said player. It was so long ago that it doesn't bother me now but it certainly did then. Man I would love to play in today's game.

Come on, you aren't really implying that Bailey wanted all the shots, are you? Great player. NOT a great 3 point shooter.

OK, now that Gielo officially gone, what do we have? This is assuming the current belief that Jurch and Karwowski aren't coming.

PG
Atencia
Hoffman

Combo
Cabbil
Dawson

SG
Kemrite
Homesley

SF
Reid
Kemrite

PF
Johnson
Talbert

C
Maxwell

I expect Hoffman to be given a scholarship, although probably with an agreement it will only be for this year. If we actually enter the season with this roster, it will be a lot of small ball, with Cabbil or Dawson at the 2 and Kemrite/Reid at the 3. I'm still thinking we will get a last minute pickup, most likely a JUCO.

If in fact neither Jurch or Karwoski are coming and we don't have another big guy in the pipeline, I have to say that letting Andoh go took a lot of pelotas. Having either one of those Euro guys could make a huge difference in the rotation. There seems to be a tendency to talk about them as a pair, but in fact they are from different countries which historically don't even get along and to the best of my knowledge had nothing in common until we recruited them, so it seems a bit strange that both would have problems with the NCAA clearinghouse as has been suggested. Layer and staff demonstrated the ability to navigate that system in the past, getting Gielo and Moller cleared with no problem.

McKay just signed a PG transfer from Bradley (and Wake) who is eligible immediately.
Former Bradley point guard, Anthony Fields, has committed to Liberty. He has graduated from Bradley, and will be immediately eligible to play his final season at Liberty in 2015-16...He transferred to Bradley after spending his true freshman season in 2011-12 at Wake Forest.

His high school credentials:
High School
Originally from Detroit, Mich., Fields graduated from Quality Education Academy in Winston-Salem, N.C., where he played his final two high school seasons ... Helped the Pharaohs to back-to-back NCSAA Division I national championships, capped by a 26-4 record in 2010-11 ... During his senior season, Fields was the team captain and was named to the Winston-Salem Journal All-Northwest Team after averaging 15 points, 11 assists and two steals per game ... Off the court, Fields was the co-valedictorian of his graduating class at QEA and volunteered weekly to read to elementary school children, coordinating the outreach program for the basketball team ... As a high school sophomore, Fields helped Southeastern (Mich.) High School to a district championship and was named his team's most improved player ... He also earned all-conference honors as a freshman at Lake Orion (Mich.) High School.

That's a bit of a head scratcher. Fields was less than impressive at Bradley - seems like nothing more than a practice player.

Hes probably the backup pg until dawson is eligible mid year. Otherwise attencia would be the only pg until then. Still need to add a big man.

While he didn´t play much at Wake or Bradley, so you can´t say he is experienced, he does bring some maturity to the PG position til Dawson is eligible. Having a grad student who was valedictorian of his HS class won´t hurt the team academic profile either. This does show that our staff has their hat in the ring of the transfer circus, so maybe a big man will follow.
