Let him work his recruiting magic to bring us high-major talent, but don't let him anywhere near a clipboard or a court.

Again, there is a reason RD doesn't have a real job, even though many of his contemporaries at LU are still in the athletic business. THINK ABOUT IT!!!! (Nothing illegal or immoral that I am aware of. No need to make it sound horrific).

Now, can we finally let this go? RD is never coming back. I really doubt he would want to any way.

Sly Fox wrote: We are unique in the commonwealth of having national profile and student body.Liberty University has a national profile. Liberty Flames basketball does not. This is what I think people are missing. Until we are in a bigger conference and national recruits are interested, we'll never get top talent from Texas, Florida...etc. So, as far as I can see, trying to recruit in those areas versus finding local talent is dumb. You can show a kid our student population numbers, you can show a kid our facilities, you can show a kid all of the unique parts about Liberty (convo, Snowflex, classes...etc). However, when they see Big South conference, a total of 2 national tournament appearances and our basketball history, we don't seem so special. I don't care where the players come from if we can compete but it's obvious the Texas, Florida, international strategy is failing. I'm not saying to completely stop going after a kid from those areas. I'm just saying we should at least be focused on getting a few kids from the state. This is why I would love it if we brought in an NAIA coach (assuming Layer was let go). Most of those NAIA coaches or D2/D3 coaches are forced to recruit local talent, develop it and then have a good game plan.

LUconn wrote:Maybe they do see the same thing. Still no reason to not go after kids from VA. Sly said we were in a unique position because of our national profile and student body, I'm just proving that doesn't matter much to a good HS senior from Texas or Florida, especially when you add those other things. If we're going to avoid VA kids, then fine but give me a good reason to do so. Show me how we'll be better than local schools by doing so. Radford and VMI are better than we are, it shouldn't be that way.VAGolf wrote:However, when they see Big South conference, a total of 2 national tournament appearances and our basketball history, we don't seem so special. How does a kid from Virginia not see the same thing?
