Nice Ben Franklin reference, Ri. I'm just hoping Carter can spend his LU dollars at the buffets at Golden Coral and Hibachi Grill. Play Basketball

FWIW, I'll chime in:

1. Winthrop
2. HPU
3. Liberty
4. UNCA
5. Coastal
6. PC
7. VMI
8. Gardner-Webb
9. CSU
10. Radford

Some thoughts:

- I am not drinking the CSU kool-aid at all whatsoever. Remember, even G-W swept CSU last year. I am drinking a tall glass of Holtmann kool-aid however, getting 5 of our last 7 at home will give us a boost. On paper, we have little, but as they say, games aren't played on paper, and the attitude has taken a complete 180-degree turn from the past three seasons. That alone will bode extremely well for my boys this winter.

- If the BSC is hell bent on only having an 18 game schedule next year, it will be a mess. A proactive commish would be looking for a team to bring the total to 12, then split into even division play for a 16 game conference schedule instead.

- Remember that Coastal came out of nowhere last year. I think they slide back to the middle of the pack, and LU and HPU make a move upward this fall. You guys can't put a price on having Sanders. LU having him and HPU having Barbour gives both the spark they need to make some noise.

- If any of you are planning to come down here for the game on Dec. 31, note that the game time is now listed as 5:30, which is following the G-W ladies huge home game against UNC. I don't know exactly how that will effect ticket price, etc. I hope we pack the place for the Heels, you think we would, but it being New Years Eve afternoon and no students around, who knows.

- For reference, G-W added a game two weeks from today, opening the season at UNC-Charlotte on Friday, 11/12, at an odd start time of 4 pm. Then we come home the following evening the 13th and play Mary Washington as scheduled before.

I missed 3 days to get back in on these replies..

I was never saying we were a midget team. If you go back and read what i said it was that you could make the argument that we are "somewhat undersized at almost every position". That's not always a bad thing, especially if you beat a team of bigs with quickness. The problem is that we have just never been good enough to do that. I dont know where teh thing abotu Brown came from but i do think he will be a nice contributor. I think his rebounding stats alone show that if we have to put him on the floor at the 3 we might be able to hang on the boards if he and jesse continue to be such ferocious rebounders.

As far as not having big men in the other mid-majors you are sadly mistaken. Go check JMU out and let me know if you still have that feeling (Texas A& AM transfer that tore it up last year). Radford just had Art, ODU had the Lee kid. GMU has had several bangers come thru in the 6'9 to 6'10 range. This is all in teh past 2 years plus.

One other thing i was thinking about is that everyone always says we can't get any decent big men. Well of course we are not going to get the 4 **** big guys but we should be able to develop some guys lke Carter and JVP and maybe we will this year. Like i said, so much of this we don't knwo because Layer hasn't been there that long.

I thoguth all last year that Burrus has a chance to be SUPER good considering that he was 17 when the season started. You could just see that he was raw. Same with Carter in that he has an intriguing skill set for a man of his size. Hopefully some of these thigns can come together this year and the old saying that a players greatest improvement is from frosh to soph year.

See, this is what you keep ignoring.

1. JMU's kid- TRANSFER. They didn't recruit him. And JMU is in a much better position where we are right now. Better conference, more attractive school. And they have no bigs they recruited, they're all transfers.

2. Art- TRASNSFER. They didn't recruit him. They paid for him. The Bigs that Radford did recruit? Just JLF, an athletic guy in the mid 6's in height.

3. Lee- HE'S NOT BIG. He's what Carter could have been if he was athletic and coordinated enough. Don't say we need bigs and then compare to Lee, he's a tall, skinny athletic post who can do everything. He has TALENT, not size.

4. If you're seriously going to say GWU had good bigs, then you don't deserve to debate in this topic anymore. Those kids were TERRIBLE. If you want kids of ANY talent level just because they're 6'10 and have wide hips and shoulders, then I'm glad you're not the coach.

And we're not undersized at every position. You're just ignoring facts there. Especially compared to the Big South. Again, this is. not. the. NBA. Seth Curry and Steph Curry are probably "undersized" to you, too. Again, glad you're not coach.
