I don't know why people are talking like we're loaded with guards. Jesse, Evan, JC and Jeremy.......................... really that's it. If anyone gets hurt Chris Johnson will probably have to play some at the 2.

Correct, and if Layer feels they are better than anyone we can sign this year then we should hold onto the schollie. The last thing we need now is to waste that scholarship on a big who isn't good enough to make an instant impact. Then we have none available for the 11 class.

The signing of PG Chene Phillips completes this years recruiting class of 6. It looks like a talented and diverse group, with 4 from the HS ranks and 2 JUCO transfers. It also places us in the position of having no scholarships for 2011 unless someone leaves.

Aren't we to the point where we just assume 2-3 will leave per year?!

I can think of one player on our roster who probably is considering himself very fortunate to have a scholarship this year. If he is smart, he will not only be working hard to step up his game, but also taking as many classes as he can next year to try to finish his degree or get as close as possible.

Agreed, and we have 6 newcomers. Based on the past few years, it's almost guaranteed that at least 2 of those will not be back for their 2nd year at LU. Although the 2 JUCO's are unlikely to leave after being here a year with only 1 year of eligibility left.

No schollie for Tyler, but he could still apply for a hardship and play if the 6th year is granted. Depends on his health, his academic situation and how bad he wants it.

Let's not forget that in effect we actually have 7 new players available next season with JVP coming off his redshirt year. I think what is different this year is that the guys who transferred out do not appear to be the players we were going to build our program around. We have 3 solid starters returning in Jesse, Evan and Antwan, along with Carter, Minaya and Jeremy (all of whom started at some point last season). The losses are less than last year, and it certainly looks like the additions are greater. I'm very optomistic.
