If roundball is your blood, this is the place to discuss the Flames as they move into the Ritchie McKay era for the 2nd time.

probably will be 89-44, somewhere around there. Want to see Newman play and dominate a smaller team.

Land wise it is a pretty large state. Maine is where my parents grew up and I sepnt 4 years living up there. I love it up there but wouldn't ever live there.

But I think there are 5 or 6 schools in the UMaine system

University of Maine (Main campus in Orono)
University of Southern Maine
UMaine Fort Kent
UMaine Augusta
UMaine Farmington
UMaine Presque Isle

I feel like there is one more but can't think of it.

I am sure you really cared....

#562861 Maine also has Bowden College who has a Polar Bear as a mascot and boasts famous alumni such as Nathaniel Hawthorne, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, and President Franklin Pierce. Study

#562873 Our shots still aren't falling...

#562874 using the free week trial to watch on ESPN+

Cabbill with an early 3 to pass 1000 pts.

Liberty getting a lot of open shots but not hitting anything. 2/8 from the floor so far

6-3 LU 14:30 left 1H

#562876 I think we are believing our own press early on. Shooting is iffy. We are sloppy. Nothing like the focus of last year's squad. We have the talent though. Hoping we can get organized in these first two games, find our shot, and make some noise in the early season.

#562879 Offense is starting to wake up a little bit. They're driving the lane and finding easy layups and open shots.

7-0 run by Liberty

25-18 LU 3:13 1H

#562880 We can't even make free throws this year. Our shooting and guard play have been ugly this week.

#562881 Couple of thoughts.

1. Newton runs really good for a 7'2 big guy.
2. They still don't play though Scottie. Like last year, too much passing around the perimeter.
3. McGhee is going to be special!

#562882 If you asked me who our best player would be through 1.5 games I would never have said Bell but he has game has been on point! Kudos to him.

#562883 29-21 LU at Halftime

Sloppy play all around in the first half. Wonder if they've bought into the hype, especially after playing #15 VT tough last week.

11-25 on FG - 44%
4-16 on 3PT - 25%
3-7 on FT - 43%

10 Turnovers against 8 from UMFK

Cabbil leading with 10 pts, James leading with 6 Rebounds

We hit 90% against VT. Didn't miss a single one in the first half.

#562887 Settling in on D in the 2nd half and cut down on the sloppy plays. Maybe the 1st half was just nerves.

#562895 Quotable of the night:

“I joked with our guys after the game about eating a Snickers because they weren’t looking like themselves,” McKay quipped. “Sure enough Lovell Cabbil said, ‘I did’, and he pulled out an empty Snickers wrapper. We’re going to have Snickers in the locker room at halftime every game.”

Would not shock me if they have the equipment managers hit the nearest store on the road and snag a bunch of bars either after shootaround or on the way to the team hotel.

#562900 Crowd looked lit 65 percent full or in other words 5k plus on TV ( really dark in the Vines - looks more like a movie theatre on TV ) regardless seems like a really good omen for attendance - might rethink Liberty Arena perm seats while there is only a hole in the ground...Someone correct me if I am wrong on the estimate - didn’t see an officiial attendance anywhere

#562913 Got to go to the vt exhibition and game last night. I think this year is going to be the most fun weve had from both winning and fun style to watch. Its taken them a little bit of time to gell with cuffee getting more run and mcghee and gumbs coming in the rotation.

Fun style with more athletic team, lot of good ball movement and passes. Dunks 3”s no looks behind back cross over alley oops. Obviously weak competition but it was a fun team to watch

There is something to be said for flash. Just like in football, defense wins but offense sells. Adding some offensive flash to the pack line could give us the best of both worlds and get some student interest as well.
