Check every Duke game at Cameron and that is the story......I don't see why we shot so few...probably just a bad night.....don't blame on eplayer. The team lost, not the officiating, Blair, Alex, anyone....it was just a bad night

We'll play much better against Buffalo, and we'll shoot at least 15 freethrows, probably much, much more....I hope. :)

I feel great actually....let them keep doubling Brew and leave LB open....heck you think he'll play like that the rest of the year? I hope the BS does (but they've seen him for 4 years now and know better) but LB will step up I have no doubt...this will be looked at as one of the best back courts in LU history if not the best....LB will be fine and I think we just got a small taste of what Brew can do...stay tuned

I have to go back to the Larry's team comment since he has been here. That is a bit of revisionist history or just remembering it incorrectly. Larry was the 3rd or 4th option during his freshman year. 1st option was to get the ball inside to whoever was posting up, Gabe, Louvon or Sarchet. Next was Gabe off a catch and shoot or 1 dribble to the basket. 3rd was either Dees or Blair on the perimeter when they ran specific plays to those guys. LB was rarely the go to guy down the stretch. People didn't dedicate their whole defense to stopping LB like they do now. LB didn't even really take a lot of shots until last year. He was steady as a freshman, got a lot more looks as a soph but Dees got even more shots esp down the stretch. Last year Larry was options 1-10 but this team is nothing like last year's team. Many more weapons and they should get comfortable with Brew after a couple or few more games. When they do, that is gonna look great. Can't wait to see it because I know what Brew can do for this team.

Flames Six-Game Winning Streak Snapped In 70-56 Loss At St. Francis
December 16, 2006
Loretto, Pa.
» Box Score

The Flames lost their 16th-straight road game as St. Francis (4-5) defeated Liberty (6-2) on Saturday night at DeGol Arena, 70-56, snapping Liberty’s current six-game winning streak.

The game served as the debut of Dwight Brewington, who transferred from Providence last spring but had to sit out the first seven games due to the NCAA transfer rule. Brewington finished the game with a team-high 16 points to go along with five rebounds, three assists and three steals.

The Red Flash started the game on a 10-0 run capped by three-straight free throws by J.R. Enright after he was fouled by Alex McLean on a three-point attempt with 14:23 remaining in the first half.

The Flames remained scoreless until the 13:29 mark in the first half when Brewington streaked toward the basket, scoring on a lay up to make it 10-2 to give him his first career points as a Flame.

Brewington pulled the Flames within six, 10-4, the next time down the court when he grabbed a B.J. Jenkins miss and tipped it back in with 12:47 left in the first half. The basket was part of a 18-6 run the Flames went on to grab a 20-16 lead with 5:39 remaining in the first half after a Larry Blair lay-up on transition.

The Red Flash then went on a 5-0 run to take retake the lead at 21-20 when Cale Nelson hit a three-point basket with 4:32 left in the half. The Red Flash continued their surge with three more points that finished with a lay up by Marquis Ford with 2:24 left in the first half. Ford was fouled on the play by Tyler Baker and hit the ensuing free throw to make it 24-20.

The Flames were able to tie the game up before the half on two Blair baskets with the second basket coming at the buzzer to send the teams into halftime tied at 24 apiece.

The Red Flash started the second half just as strong as they started the first as they opened with a 7-2 run to take a 31-26 lead with 15:51 left in the game when Chris Berry hit one-of-two free throws after being fouled by Brewington.

Baker then hit a three-point basket to get the Flames within two points, 31-29, with 15:23 left in the game but that was as close as Liberty would get the rest of the night as the Red Flash used a near-perfect outing from the free throw line, including 20-of-25 in the second half, to seal the victory.

The Red Flash responded with a 20-10 run that was capped by a three-point basket by Nelson with 5:48 left in the game. During that span two three-point baskets by Ford really sealed the deal for the Red Flash as the remaining five-plus minutes of the game were pretty even with St. Francis holding the 21-17 advantage to take the 70-56 win.

The Flames suffered the 14-point loss despite registering five more field goals (24 to 19) than homestanding St. Francis. The Red Flash won the game at the free throw line where they were 26-of-31 for the contest while the Flames were a perfect 4-of-4 in limited action at the charity stripe.

The Flames were held to just 34.8 percent from the field on 24-of-69 shooting, marking the team’s second-lowest output of the season with the lowest coming in the team’s other loss at Oklahoma (30.2) in the season opener.

Joining Brewington on the top scoring list for the Flames was Blair who scored 11 points on 5-of-19 shooting in his worst shooting performance since he went 8-of-23 at Oklahoma. Anthony Smith rounded out Liberty’s top scorers with 11 points on 5-of-9 shooting.

Four Red Flash players scored in double figures led by Ford’s 16 points on 6-of-12 shooting. J.R. Enright and Devin Sweetney each scored 14 points and Nelson scored 10 points in the win.

The Flames are back in action on Monday when they travel to take on MAC foe Buffalo in Buffalo, N.Y. Tip is set for 7 p.m.

A dissapoint loss no doubt, but as already said this game doesn't make or break or season. No game from here through December will (except for if we beat Florida). Hopefully, Brew, Blair, and Co. will gel in time for Asheville and the rest of the Big South. We have the talent to win the Big South. We just need it to all come together.

dickens must be in the holiday spirit. i am disappointed with the loss, and i doubt we will beat buffalo tonight. so realistically out of our next six games i can only see us winning one game, but before everyone gets crazy and wants to put dunton on the chopping block, look at the competition we will be playing. as long as we show progress i will be very happy. big south play is what we need to be concerned about.

oh, I doubt he will be here that long.....just pointing that out. No, I am realistic....we lost to a team we shouldn't have.....but it happens all the time here; however, it just doesn't bother some people
