I've followed Liberty basketball since graduating in 1996. It's difficult for me to understand why Liberty can't be more successful in basketball. 7-8 good players is all is takes to have a good competitive team. In my opinion there is no reason why a decent coach couldn't attract quality kids and players to Liberty. Football is much more difficult due to the number of quality kids it takes. If things don't change quickly and I'm Barber I would think a mid-season change may need to be made to show you're serious about winning. This seasons is embarrassing.

BJ, in all fairness, many of us had the same thoughts. We were embarrassing during most of the regular season. We are not a really good team. However, you have to give DL and the guys a lot of credit for this turn-around. It had to be extremely difficult to remain positive, not give up and work hard enough to win the BSC Championship.

the season WAS embarrassing. the state of the program as a whole is embarrassing.

4 improbable wins in the tourney doesnt change that.

glad to see the boys step it up at the end but it doesnt change the fact that we've seen very little return on investment in MBB for YEARS now

Ok I will agree with that...but we could have folded up the tent, fired the coach and taken our lumps the rest of the year so for a few days, I just want to relish in the championship and enjoy a wonderful run this year and hope that we can finally find something to build on

I guess this the reason the Big Ten & old Dean Smith didn't really like Tournaments for declaring a champion, cause anyone can get hot and win... Smith always said the better team was shown over a course of a 2 month season... Somewhere Purple Face (Greg Marshall) has to be rolling his eyes at the fact a 10th seed can win the Tournament.

Great Purple Face reference but I doubt he is giving a second thought to anything besides wishing for Creighton to get that call from the C-7.

Basketball championships are won in post season tournaments. I recall a team back in 70's go undefeated in regular season, then got beat very early in NCAA tournament and went home.
