And it's about the money.

College games at Liberty don't rake in a lot of money due to the majority of attendance belonging to students who get in for free. Therefore, the people that do come and pay the gate to get in are probably going to get the most say, which in our case, is our older audience.

hmmm, I don't know if any of this is the case. I knew the guy that used to do the audio for hockey games and he just played whatever he wanted. I don't know that anybody has any say besides the guy up in the sound booth.

As for hiphop and basketball. They don't go hand in hand. If I was on the basketball team, I'd rather they play anything but hiphop, because I think it sucks. Obviously whatever music gets your blood flowing varies from person to person. I think there is a relation with basketball and hiphop but it has more to do with the culture of hiphop including basketball. Nothing to do with basketball including hiphop. I don't think Naismith was a big ODB fan.

I agree, a lot of people in the seats who are complaining are probably older and pay to get in. But students pay more in tuition. I'm sure there are probably some fat cat donors though who don't like hip hop. Whoever's in charge probably just doesn't like the message secular hip hop sends.

BTW, if you saw UNC's midnight madness, you would have seen secular "Hip, Hop," gone wild. I thought it was kind of disgusting. A little too much dirty dancing for what was supposed to be a family atmosphere if you ask me. They showed it on ESPNU a couple weeks ago.

As if there is some uptight white guy with a top hat and a sack with a dollar sign on it saying he wont pay for the gas money for road trips if hiphop is played. I really think it's just a case of some student playing whatever he wants.

Atmosphere in the Vines will improve with wins and more fannies in the seats. That said....

I don't mean to slam anyone associated with our band (you know BJ is one of us) but the Sweet 16 needs a big time facelift. First of all, if you have ever been to Duke, UNC, UVA, Tech they have scaled down versions of the marching band playing tradition songs and stand tunes for the most part. They might have a dance team come out and perform to a "hip hop" tune but that is the extent of the piped in music. Our marching band is pretty good. so I don't see why we can't do something similar. I cannot understnad why we put 16 guys out there, have them on a mic blaring shrill sounds to the point of ear throbing pain, with an electric guitar, playing a selection of music that you would expect to hear at 40 and over night at the old Hilton (not that I was ever there but I heard stories). When the ladies went to College Park for the Sweet 16 run a few years back we had to borrow Tech's basketball band. Does Dr. Kerr take off after football season or is there absolutely no interest in playing in the band for basketball?

I'm still looking forward to basketball season though :>)

Let's understand that there is a double standard when it comes to music played at what contests. Case in point: We were playing some Motown at the football game and some VERY large (ok embarrasingly FAT) man with a can comes up and starts shaking the door. Walked or hobbled right up the stairs to the booth with the clock and music board. Pounded on the doors telling us to quit playing that 'satan" music. Said he came all the way up from Florida and didn't want to hear that music. (I told him thank you for his interest, we will be putting in Sandi Patti's latest hit next) So we stopped playing it and went back to "generic" music. I walk outside and the soccer team is warming up and what do I hear but the Melodious sounds of the great vocalist Axl Rose and his band of crazies Gun's and Roses. Not one complaint. So I don't doubt that hockey and other sports have a looser restriction thanBBall and FB. Sad but True (Cue Lars and the boys!!!)
