Really?? I guess it had to do with he is a redshirt senior, but I thought there has been recent scenarios where a 6th year of eligibility was granted but maybe I am remembering it wrong. I can't keep track.

Getting a 6th year is a crap shoot, even if your first redshirt year was medical and totally legit. If I'm not mistaken, JB's redshirt at the Citadel was non-medical. I've never heard of a 6th year being granted under those circumstances.

Old nailed it. Because his first redshirt was non-medical, the compliance people told him there is little to no chance he'll get a sixth year. Not even sure if they applied. Not to mention the knee injury was so severe that he may not be right at any point next season anyway. This isn't the typical ACL injury. It's an 18-month rehab.

ahhh ok. That makes more sense then. I just kind of assumed it was a sure thing, but I didn't realize the other things that went into the decisions process. I can't keep up with all the ncaa rules and guidelines, haha
