Well hitting a 3 looks cooler! Hello! And that has been a problem since '87 when the 3 pt line was put in at the high school level. I chalk it up to a decline in FT percentages. Less kids imagine themselves hitting 2 big free throws to win the game then they do knocking down a 3. Guess which one they practice more!

Agreed. And sometimes the only way to stop them is to yank them & choke them.
