There are probably 2 programs in the entire country that have packed women's games. And in fact, UC isn't even drawing as big of a crowd at the women's games this year, because it's a "down year". Very few women programs have a following at all, including top 10 teams.

I'm still working on my VA certification. I was a certified apprentice in SC though.

And as for how much it's worth, I can tell you, but you'd hafta pay me.

That is a good call! Women's basketball just isn't going to pull in the crowds outside of big games. I think another reason why Liberty struggles in attendance (outside of a poor record) is from playing in the Big South. I would bet that 90% of the students (non athletes) at Liberty couldn't name you more than half of the Big South teams. I'll bet many couldn't name more than 1-2 teams. It is hard to get people excited about a game involving a school they didn't know existed before coming to Liberty. I LOVE NCAA basketball and have since I was in elementary. I followed every tournament and could tell you the champ and probably most the final four teams from the past 20 years (I am 30 now). I came to Liberty and had never heard of ANY of the teams in the Big South. Of course when we play teams like VTech, UVA, etc. at home, they line up outside to get in.

I agree totally with the statement by "Guest" above. Name recognition is important in terms of "bringing them in" Very few outsiders and your average student are not going to go to a game against a college they did not know existed. There is nothing to relate to. I would think that most of the students have heard of Radford, Coastal, or Winthrop but outside of that there is just not that much to relate to or to get exited about.

Also the low attendence for the men this year might not be just the fact that we are losing but who we are losing to. Losses to Longwood, Mt St. Mary's, VMI, and UNC Ashville just doesn't say too much about the calibre of athletes we are putting out there on the floor. Why on earth would your average fan waste their time which could be spend hitting the books or spend in recreational activity or other activities.
