virtually impossible being a mid-major especially with a 10-6 record even if you win out there is no shot to crack the 25, might not even get a single vote
sad thing is true for Coastal at 12-2 they could win out and not even expect a single vote in the national top 25

well, deservedly so. Beating Big South teams won't get you there. You'd have to have a stellar season OOC.

Last time I checked, I doubt that Tournament Committee sat around saying "Hey, you know Northern Michigan Panhandle State is number 7 in the mid-major poll..."

I mean if you want to care that's perfectly fine. I guess my point is we should be focused on getting to the top 25 nationally. I'm not saying that will happen anytime soon, but still it's a goal we should have. Not some poll that doesn't even matter.

Chill out jbock. We won’t sniff the national top 25 anytime soon. Sure, that’s a goal, but more of a long-term goal. A short term goal would be to crack the midmajor top 25 and move up from there. Sure the poll doesn’t really matter, but neither does the national top 25.

Being ranked highly in this poll would be a real step in that direction. Butler was ranked pretty high in this poll and it played out pretty well for them last year in the big dance. And FYI the top five in this poll would all have legit chances at getting an at large bid if they fell in their conference tourney. Can't say the same of LU right now.

No matter what we do - people are going to be unhappy. We're 4-0 in conference, showing some real progress, and we're a very young team.

This team has a bright future. Sit back and enjoy the ride. Top-25 will always be a long shot in the Big South, and it's been quite a while since we could be considered top-anything.

Were we in the mid-major top 25 in '08 when what's his name from NC was on our team? I'd assume we were in '04 (I wasn't a student so I don't know), but how many times have we been in the mid-major top 25? For our expectations of this team, and how they have performed, we all should be very happy with receiving votes for the mid-major t25

The MidMajor top 25 hasn't been out that long. I'm pretty sure it was NOT out in 04. We were ranked most of the season in 08-09. I think we reached as high as the low teens.

I was thinking the same thing, jcmanson. Its only been out like 3 years if memory serves me correct.
