It's a small sample, but from what I saw, I'd rather have Sommy in there at the 5 (not good games for Carter or JVP). At least Sommy was in position all the time and was working hard in the paint. He just needs to learn to go after the ball with BOTH hands instead of trying to tip it in with one.

John Brown--we haven't a rebounder like that since Ace. And the man even jumped center for us at 6'4", so he must have some hops.

Before Ohman left, he must have taught Jesse how to drive to the basket to score on layups, except when Jesse does it, he makes them most of the time. I do wish his little brother would have scored, but that will come in time.

Evan looked great shooting from long distance when he was wide open.

I'll be more than happy if the starting line up of Jesse, Evan, Brown, Minaya, and Burrus can gel and produce. While not a ton of height, that's a ton of athleticism and skill. I'd love for Carter to get the 5 spot because I love his game and his potential, but we're still waiting for it to all click with him. Baird would've fit in perfect at the 4 had he stayed healthy.

From what Layer was saying, I'm surprised JC even played as much as he did. he has missed a lot of practice.

Trying to think who John Brown reminds me of, and I really can't come up with anyone who has played for LU. He plays a lot like Joseph Harris from Coastal. I was VERY impressed.

I predict Sommy will make an appearence on SportsCenter highlights at least once before the season is over.

Evan's game last night was a lot like Seth's first game of his freshman year. If we can get a season anywhere close to that out of him, we'll be in good shape. That's a big if though.

I had to follow along via this thread last night but it sounds like John Brown played a great game! If his work ethic on the boards inspires some of our bigs to work harder and get more aggressive then we have a chance to do well. For me this season is all about getting better. I have no expectations but to be better every game. If we can compete for the top of the Big South that would be gravy. Next season will be the year we can judge these guys by. We are so young, our bigs are all freshman and sophomores. It takes time to develop a big man's game so if Carter and JVP can continue to improve, get bigger/stronger, and we add in a few 6'8" wings next year plus all the young talent maturing...it is exciting to think about.

Lets go to ND tomorrow and put in a good showing. Oh, and Kudo's to Minaya! After struggling last season and sticking with it, it is good to see him find his game!

Yeah I thought the same thing. If you look at his stat line and take one of Seth's from his year here they are very similar.

and also I dont think it is a big if that evan could compete at a level that seth did his freshman year. I think he can have a better year than seth did his first year. Seth was an amazing freshman but evan all around has him beat in quickness speed athleticism and now his jumper is getting on and he is seeing the court amazingly and is a much more disciplined player as far as making decisions in the heat of the moment. So I think it is a huge possibility that he can outplay what Seth did his first year.

Having watched his dad play, it was fun to see Evan! I thought that the team really turned it up a notch in the second half; typical first game miscues, but these guys seem to work well together. I was hoping to see J C hit a few, but Brown played big and Jesse sometimes seemed as though he was willing to take on most of their team in the paint. Fun, but still a lot of sharpening needed before the conference games start.

How'd I get included here 😳
