Finish top 4 in this dreadful conference year in year out. Win the conference once every 4-5 years. Never, ever get embarrassed the way we did today.

By saying you miss an old coach, you are taking a shot at the current coach.

By saying none of the recruits the current coach recruited will pan out, you are taking a shot at the current coach.

I miss those days. You know the days where we competed for a conference championship and actually won one.

He only recruited what 3 of these guys? Plus he didn't have much time to work with. You can rarely judge a coach on his first recruiting class. Look at RMKs first class - not much.

You also said you completely agreed with a post that TBGBG said where he missed a former coach. You did not qualify that post by saying you missed those days. You agreed with what he said about missing that coach.

You can spin it anyway you want to. I did not say anything bad about Coach Layer. Nothing I said was meant to imply something bad about Coach Layer. If you guys want to read "between the lines" help yourself.

I also find it hard to understand why one player who left school to play elsewhere at a similar level because he couldn't stand the rules at LU is "missed" and another who left for the opportunity to play for a hall of fame coach in a great conference at one of the top academic schools in the country is "Baby Judas".

It's all in the way things are done. In the realm of public perception, one said Liberty's not for me and the other one said I'm better than Liberty. One also came after a coaching change when the coach who recruited him was gone.

On saying that you miss one coach is a slight to the current coach. I don't think that is a slight against the current coach because it's a different time, different people, different players! Its like I say I miss the Tom Coughlin days in Jacksonville but that doesn't mean that Jack Del Rio is not a bad coach, he's doing the best with what he has.... Like I said different times, different people, different players...

I think there's a difference in saying you miss the days and saying you miss the coach. He said he missed the coach personally as well as missing those days. To me, that's a slight at the current guy, especially when the coach you miss is one who was let go and didn't choose to leave on his own. Manson's taken the negative talk that he used to jump all over people for last year to a whole new level today.

Here's a thought.

When RD left, RMK had a good number of quality pieces to work with. TeeJay, Ace, Smitty, and a project in KO(which has worked out in some ways). This year, Layer was given 2 players who havent played a full season, 1 guy who got cut then came back, 1 project in Carter, about 6 players who can shoot but not penetrate, and Jesse.

Remember, it's ONE game. If this game wasnt on ESPN, none of you guys are as upset as you were today. Every team gets outmatched, and we hit the perfect storm of size, athleticism, and an inability to get settled in the game.

TBGBGB has his face on Sportscenter. Pretty ugly.

Every year we've had a game in which we look PITIFUL. We have alot of new parts and roles and a coach so it's going to take some time. But there IS potential. We lost to a better GMU team by 4 at their place. Today was embarassing, but it's not the first time, and it probably wont be the last this season. We WILL get better though.

And this Dunton stuff is ridiculous. Check the Box Score against Oklahoma and Florida his last year. Or Winthrop the year before. Or Maryland, Miami(OH), and Arkansas State the year before that. What does this mean? That non-conference games are supposed to PREPARE you for the REAL SEASON. We FOUND OUT where we are. It's not pretty. We've got a long ways to go, but we're going to get better, just as every past Liberty team has done.

You guys should chill, no one in the BSC would have beaten Clemson yesterday... you'll still win 14 or 15 games. People lose bad this time of year look around, UNCA and VMI... other games as well.

KO has to learn how to be the man now, it's alot different when you have smith and curry out there with you...

Not sure why anyone is blaming RMK, if you want to point a finger, JB deserves it. He hired him. Surely like GRM said they had to have noticed RMK's track record... We have had 4 head coaches this decade, that's not good.

I haven't said a word, but i will answer this question. If KO continues to be KO and can't act like a leader, then sit his rear on the bench. Im tired of all his antics and im not alone....if you want to be a leader... act like one. If not, we are in a rebuilding year and frankly i would rather have my young guys take a few lumps now to help them next year.

I will say I am always a fan of honesty. Layer flat out saying his team wasn't ready for Clemson sets a tone. I hope he continues with that tone throughout the season when asked more tough questions.

Layer has been very open about how young his team is and about how they're going to struggle. However, he's also been very open in saying he sees the potential, loves the work ethic, and really thinks they can turn into a good team down the line. I love that about him. He's not building them up. He's not sandbagging or anything like that. He's giving his honest outlook of the team. That alone makes me respect him even more.

Thanks guys for replying to me. I appreciate the honest answers. I just can't seem to wrap my head around the feelings and words directed at LU basketball sometimes. The whole thing has been very confusing to me, especially with the way people were acting on this board the last couple of years.

I want to see the program do well, period. I don't really care who the head coach is or who's sitting on the bench. I just want to see LU win, period. I have supported winning under every head coach we've had and I support that right now. The past is the past. I don't have time to dwell on it. I only care about winning right now. So, I sometimes have a very hard time understanding why anyone here is concerned with anything besides that.

That's all. I don't have a lot more to say about basketball right now and I hope to avoid the kind of stuff we've dealt with in the past. It's ugly and it makes me want to turn FlameFans off sometimes.

People here get too close to coaches and players. It's hard to see past that sometimes when you know somebody personally. It would be happening with football right now if we weren't so ridiculously dominant. Like what if we were going 5-5 every year. We'd all be ripping Rocco after losses and guys like SJ or Libertine who know him personally would probably be spinning things (or telling the truth, depending on your point of view). I'm happy we only have to put up with this in 1 sport.

Our basketball team just reached the point where people are talking about the band half time show and not the game...

I just thought I would bump this thread since Clemson put a whoopin on the Tar Heels last night. They may ultimately choke down the stretch as in past years, but there is no doubt that on a given day/night they can be very good.
