Liberty comes in at the top of all Big South school (#100) spending over $2.2 million a year and in 2008 having a staggering cost of $140k per win.
Asheville bottomed out the conference at #332 spending a bit over 500k per year.
To be fair though, it should be noted Liberty spends 11% of their athletic budget on basketball, whereas Asheville is at 12%. Still, as an outsider...Not sure if the 2008 budget was an aberration, but if you guys are really spending that much money shouldn't you be really getting some better returns?? Or is this budget high because of some extenuating circumstances? I was shocked.
And for the record winthrop is at #192 with around $1.3 million in expenses, high point, radford and G-Webb all are in the 800k-1.1 million range.
Not sure if this is a non LU topic, but was pretty amazed at some of the stats. And tooting our own horn a bit, Eddie's is clearly getting the most bang for the buck here in Asheville. Competing every year on about 500k.
