They may also be close to hiring the other assistant coach, and are just holding everything to make one big splash.

This used to be a common thing, but they had been doing so much better lately.
Not to speak for them, but in our case, we're waiting on the full coaching staff to be hired before doing a story. Just too much going on right now to put out a story on each assistant.

Myron played at Tech when I was in school there, so it'll be nice to see him around campus.

By the way, we don't have an NLI from this kid yet.

I'm excited to see him play. Interesting that his scoring average went down a bit his senior year, but not that unusual. They likely played a tougher schedule, and often defenses key on a star senior.

With Perez and Minaya we have a mini "Dominican Connection". We need to come up with some ideas for that.

Las Llamas Dominicanas están enfuego!!

That's a fairly impressive list of offers he chose us over.

His sophomore year, Minaya was a senior, and he outscored him on the season. That's impressive. He seems to be the type of player that we were going to be lacking going into next year without Seth. A scoring guard who can create their own shot. Hopefully he'll be able to contribute next year.

“Chris is a 6-4, 210-pound guard with a phenomenal work ethic and is a big-time gym rat,” commented Oldsmar Christian Head Men’s Basketball Coach Ryan Pannone. “He brings a new dimension to scoring, because he can tally points in a variety of ways. Chris is not just a three-point and layup guy, but he has a very skilled mid-range game. He is a competitor, as tough a player as you can find and is a guy who hates to lose like Liberty’s Kyle Ohman does.”
Interesting quotes in the press release. 'Sounds like Perez has a better work ethic than a player who just transferred out. And how does a high school coach in Florida know about how much Kyle Ohman hates to lose?

Because he's marrying Kyle Ohman's sister.

From my April 2 blog post:
The last commit, 6-foot-4 guard Chris Perez from Oldsmar, Fla., is waiting to see who ends up in the coaching chair. Perez’s high school coach, Ryan Pannone, said Perez has an excellent relationship with Soucie and that if Soucie gets the head coaching job, Perez’s commitment is rock solid. If it’s not Soucie, Perez may re-evaluate things. Liberty has a few things going for it in that regard, though. Perez played at the same high school as current Flame David Minaya, a Tennessee Tech transfer who will be eligible next season. And Pannone is literally about to become part of the Liberty family. He’s marrying Kyle Ohman’s sister in August.

Now that makes sense. I was wondering myself when I read the article on libertyflames.com

Is he on campus this summer? I saw someone that looked like him in LaHaye practicing dribbling drills with both hands. Whoever he was, the kid had amazing ball control skills.

A lot of basketball players play in Lahaye in the offseason. I used to see Jesse in there everyday taking shots...
