You almost made me drop a tear. That was when they were playing at Memorial Stadium... I spent many summer days there with my dad.... This is when I still loved baseball

That is a rather notorious list there, CJ. Any of you followed Alomar's sad story lately?

Ah. This post is going better than I thought it would.

And for the record, in Feb. of 1997 I was in my second semester at LU.

If I recall correctly, we had about 4600 resident undergraduate students and a LOT of debt at that time. There was only one campus and only one floor of Demoss. Reber-Thomas was the only place on campus to get food. There was no campus network. The campus had a single T1 which connected the "ITRC" computer lab in Science Hall to the Internet. When I wanted to download something fast, I took a 100MB Zip disk down there to get it.

Liberty wore Red at home most nights. Aluma was a projected top 15 NBA draft pick. RD and Jeff were on speaking terms. I could still dunk very easily. UNCA was scary good. Liberty was scary good and neither of us won the conference tournament. Actually that year we got new white uni's so we only wore red at home occasionally now that I think about it. Our bench was on the opposite side of the court that it is now. There was no FTN broadcasting every home game.

Man that back court was nice. Jason Allison is my witness. He and I made those guards run so much in practice from us beating them that it wasn't funny. The shots we would hit were ridiculous. When you have nothing to lose you can throw up junk and a lot of times it goes in. I was a Ploach then. A Player/coach dubbed by Eric Pothoven when I first took the job. Those guys were a ton of fun to coach. Most of them are still friends to this day with me. EP was gone by 1997 though.

Speaking of Peter Aluma, he is now in my BUSI 605 class...but back on topic:

In 1997, my sister was a junior in high school and just dating the guy who is now her husband.
Wyndhurst didn't exist.
Parents had to sign permission slips for us to take sex-ed in public schools.

Feb 1997 on a more personal note I was actually 14 years old and I think at that point had just won the school spelling bee for the third time in 4 years

No one knew that come October of that year the Florida Marlins would be the World Series champions

1997--Coach McKay was age 32 and finishing up his first year as head coach at Portland State (9-17, 6-10, 7th); however, Wikipedia doesn't say if he could still dunk in those days.
