The SID article:

http://www.libertyflames.com/index.cfm? ... 3&TeamID=6

A couple of things stood out in looking at the box score. As great a scoring night at Kyle had, he also had 7 turnovers (to only one assist). Richie alluded to this in his interview and said Kyle was upset about it, which I like. Smitty only took 7 shots! Sorry, he has to be more assertive than that. Seth 1-9 from 3. He has just lost the range, but has enough overall game to continue to produce. Who would have thought this team would outrebound an opponent 50-33 and lose? It blows my mind.

We need to find a way to get Curry some easier looks. His confidence skies when he makes his first couple shots. Right now teams are playing him so tough that he's really only getting looks from the three.

I'd love to see us start throwing in some backdoor cuts and back screens with Curry. I know we run several for Anthony and even Kyle but to get Curry some easy baskets would do wonders for him, IMO.

When you have your starters logging more minutes then anyone else, when would be the time you see mistakes being made? Add in one of the youngest teams in the country and we are starting to understand why things like this are happening.

If you're the guys you cant focus on this loss, you have to focus on the fact that there has only been 1 or 2 games this year that we havent been in. All RM can do is put his teams in positions to win, at some point from experience someone will step up in the clutch and bring it home.

I was glad to hear RM talk about how he wanted to foul them when up 3, I'm just sorry we didnt execute or the outcome would have been different. First Presby and now GW, at some point it will become natural what to do in these situations and they wont have to be reminded every play.

Any reason why Weaver didn't play last night? Was it just coach's decision to go with Austin instead, or is Bill sick/injured?

That was a pair of crazy games there in Boiling Springs and Rock Hill last night. The fouling with a 3 point lead came into play in the WU/VMI game as well. VMI made 1 of 2 FTs with about 10 seconds left to take a three point lead. They fouled WU's Justin Burton with a little over 5 seconds left. WU made both FTs (I'm guessing on purpose, though I wasn't there to see it) and fouled VMI with 4.1 seconds left. VMI made 1 of 2 to take a 2 point lead and WU hit a shot at the buzzer to tie it up...in fact, if the WU shooter didn't have a toe on the line, it would've been a game-winning three-pointer. So fouling in that same situation doesn't always work either.

I thought about that as I was going to sleep last night. Maybe Austin had a good week in practice or something. Or maybe Bill has let one too many passes slip through his hands or missed too many lay ups. Just seems odd to not play him when you specifically mentioned that you have to find time for him. I found the time for him. It was 10 extra minutes tacked onto the game.

Exactly. If you've got a lead, I don't know that you really want to stop the clock while giving the other team free shots at scoring. In fact, the only 2 things that you do want to do is run down the clock and keep them from scoring. It's a pretty counter productive move. UNLESS you can foul them with less than 5 seconds left without them being in the act of shooting which is pretty difficult to do.

Let's be honest, at the end of regulation the kid hit a 22 foot shot to send the game into OT. Kudos to him. We had the game won in OT, but hand wrapped it and gave it to them.

Coach K is smarter than McKay and he says slap the floor and bend over so you dont have to worry about the last 5 minutes

This loss stings as an LU grad on a personal level because both of my sisters graduated from GWU and even though he was a few years behind me in high school I was friends with Takayo Siddle, who really made some big plays for the Bulldogs in both overtimes. Needless to say, I've been hearing it from my sisters about this loss and in the fashion in which it happened.

He said he wanted them to foul at the end of regulation when we were up 3. He also told the players they wanted a timeout if GW scored at the end of the first OT, which is where we turned it over and they tied it up. He said that our effort and energy is there, just not executing.

If this is true, why didn't coach just call the timeout after that made basket?

I keep forgetting that the coach can call a TO from the sideline now. In theory he could have, but just from listening to the radio call, it sounded like the steal came IMMEDIATLY after the basket. I'm guessing Richie just didn't have time to react.
