I'll admit it. I overdrank the kool-aid thinking we would dominate the Big South... oops (Probably a residual effedt of Detroit Kool-Aid with the Lions and Tigers... heappnes every year). So, those of you who know more than me....school me.

What is the most realistic that we finish in the Big South Standings. Obviously I'm not going to hold out hope for the #1 Seed, but number 2? And I always forget... how is the Big South running in tournament for game locations.. same as last year, another change? Seems whenever I get used to how they run it, they change it again.

I've thought this over the years and think the same this year... they reimind me of the Pistions.... Good Defense but more of a Jump Shooting team with no legitimate inside presence but that can work a bit better in the college game then in the NBA.... but hey, if you disagree that's fine with me...

Anyway, whatta ya guys think?

What I think is we are a hair away from being 5-1 and very much in the mix for the 1 seed right now. VMI is having a great year so far, but almost lost at Cameron yesterday to a CCU team that has been horrible so far. They may end up running the table and prove me wrong, but I don't see them as a dominant team, and I believe they will be brought back to earth. Radford is unique in the BSC because of their size and strength inside. I'm really looking forward to seeing how they deal with our quickness advantage.

I think it will be tough to catch both VMI and RU. 2nd is doable and 3rd very realistic. First things first though.

Beat Coastal!!

I think VMI will keep the 1st spot...they will lose a few games, but not enough to lose that 1st spot...I can see us finishing anywhere from 2nd to 4th...if we never had to play on the road again we would finish 1st...haha

so 2nd or 3rd is probably a very good guess in my opinion

A good way to get a real measure of the conference standings, especially early, is to apply a simple formula. Teams get +1 for a road win, nothing for a road loss or a home win, and -1 for a home loss.

So that leaves us with:

VMI +3
Radford +1
UNCA +1
Presbyterian 0
Liberty 0
GWU 0
Winthrop 0
CSU -1
Coastal -2
HPU -2

Great minds think alike! This is exactly what I do until about the halfway point of the season.

There is a long way to go and injuries could heavily affect nearly everyone's chances including ours. But I see no reason why that #2 seed is not within our reach. And I am not quite sure if I am convinced that the Institute is invincible in this race. Certainly we need to start finding a way to win these close road games.

Anybody else noticed how Clemson has fared after we nearly took them down?

Clemson is still unbeaten Sly. They beat the Wolfpack by 12 yesterday, and to date our 5 point loss is their second closest margin of victory. Temple lost to them by 4.

Has anyone been paying attention to Mason? A team we beat.

They beat ODU by 10 yesterday. I think they have one loss in conference.

I didn't give Mason enough credit. They are 12-3 overall and 5-0 in the Colonial.

And another team we beat, W&M, is 6-9 and 1-4 in the CAA.

If we can continue to win, Clemson and Mason IMO will help our RPI greatly.

So will UVA. Sure, they don't have a great record, but the teams they will be playing from here on out will make their RPI top 75 if not better.

5 out of the 6 losses this year are by a combined 12 points. Things like that will happen when you are running a bunch of 19 year olds out there every night.

I said after the Presby loss that we definitely had a chance to sweep this pair of home games and we did. VMI is definitely gonna be a HUGE test...but if we get on a cold streak like we did at the start tonight there...we could be down by 30 in a flash
