It was pretty awesome watching Jamarco try to guard Curry in the 1st half. He was getting so frustrated. After one pull up jumper he turned to Barclay and started angrily yelling. Then in the 2nd half, when he wasn't guarding him it seemed like he was trying to out do Seth. But in the end he and his team lost that battle.

The guy on Chuck South radio was wondering out loud why Seth was not at a higher level program.

Teams aren't going to fare well if they get caught up trying to outdo Seth. They'd better contain/minimize and keep a cool head, and that's going to be easier said then done.

I have always said I will give credit where it's due, especially when I talk crap about people. Kyle played well in the second half.

That being said, the thing I noticed most about this game that I didn't see at Winthrop or Presby was us cutting to the basket looking for the layup instead of the kick-out. Johnny, Jesse, and Seth all did that very well.

Crowd wasn't bad at all.

I loved getting in Warren's head. He hated us for singing to him, to the point that in the second half he started yelling back at us.

I can't stand Barclay. He's the new Marshall.

Agreed ... although I would've liked to have seen at some of Seth's 27 or Anthony's big slam in the highlights. I guess beggars can't be choosy.

Tyler with a really good game tonight. If we get this out of him on a regular basis... we will be solid.

Smitty and Seth were getting mugged all night. One play I can remember... inbounds pass, Jesse lobs it in to Smitty, Smitty is practically being tackled, so he palms it back to Jesse for a layup. That's what I like to see out of this team, regardless of the circumstances, we find a way to score.

As for Kyle...

When he isn't hitting his shots, the rest of his game suffers.

And one reason his shot is off lately is because he's convinced he can hit a shot on the run laterally. And he ALWAYS misses those. But when he steps into the shot, it's almost a guaranteed make. He's money on those shots when he steps forward, towards the basket. He didn't make a single shot tonight when he was moving across the court off a screen, but when he caught it and stepped forward, he probably hit 75%.

And when he hits his shots, his defense and rebounding get better.

One thing that seems to be overlooked about Seth is how smooth he is when he drives to the basket. He had several great layups tonight in traffic.

I second SJ's barclay comment.

Ant's dunk was awesome, even if he did get a T

And I almost flipped over the rail when I saw Tyler Baker dunk in traffic and still be able to run down the court

Charleston Southern opened the second half Saturday night at the Vines Center by hitting four of its first five shots to turn a six-point halftime deficit into a four-point lead, and Liberty coach Ritchie McKay was seething, though most fans wouldn’t know it. McKay doesn’t show a lot of emotion on the sideline, but he made sure to send a message to his team through substitutions.

Four of Liberty’s starters sat on the bench after McKay called timeout. Anthony Smith was the only one left on the floor, and Smith and Liberty’s second unit led the Flames back into the game with a burst of defensive intensity. Liberty, desperate for a victory after a winless Big South road trip to South Carolina last week, handled the Buccaneers 79-60, and the renewed commitment to defense during the 12-4 run after the timeout proved to be a turning point.

“That second unit came in and gave us a lot of energy,” McKay said. “They answered their run. They put a lot of emphasis on defending, instead of just worrying about the offensive end. I think that was healthy for us.”

I thought about you after that play and figured you were about to crap yourself.

Brolin played very well in the first 10 minutes, and our defense seemed to be too much for them at the beginning of the game. They then settled down and got going. Seth was amazing. Ant was solid. Great minutes from Bake.

One of the ref's never gave us a decent call all game.

Nice to get back in the win column not beat Coastal.

Seriously, it was awesome. I thought he was gonna lay it in and I was still excited and then he finished with the dunk. He didn't slap the backboard but he can work on that in practice.

Just as the old hags know where they were when JFK was shot (or JR, for the younger hags ), history was made in the Vines last night:
Tyler Baker dunked for the first time at home in his career, using a head fake to slip his defender in the first half before going baseline for the jam.

For as long as he's been here, I've never seen TB play. From the few highlights, he looks as if he could be a real contributor. I've never believed it, but maybe he CAN play!

Tyler is a legit 6'9" and is highly skilled for a player his size. He was a valuable reserve by the end of his only healthy season (06-07). If he can recapture his perimeter touch and add the upfake and drive to the hoop he showed last night, he can be more than a role player (but I would settle for that)

Tyler vs. CSU:

15 minutes
6 points on 2-3 from the floor and 2-2 from the line
5 rebounds
2 assists
1 steal
0 turnovers

Very nice............................. very nice indeed.

very good effort from our guys...CSU made a couple of runs, but each time our guys answered. Like everybody has already said, I was very happy with Tyler's play...I was laughing all game because my wife kept joking, "please don't touch him, we can't have him hurt again." and honestly we can't...he is showing us what kind of player he can be for us...and he has some size, which is needed...

also...where is inthebeginning?? oh yeah...we won..he only shows up when we lose...

Baker was down on the floor at least twice fighting for loose balls, and both times that happened I was holding my breath, afraid he would never get up. He really needs to talk to the women's equipment manager and get some of the Frazee knee pads if he's going to be scrambling for all those loose balls. If the knee pads worked for Patrick Ewing in college, they could work for Baker.

Speaking of getting abused, it seemed Brolin was on the floor for half the game. That kid can take some hits.

Yeah, I was thinking when I saw Rocco at the game and watching Brolin, if I was a football coach I'd always wonder how a player like that would do. Not that he'd ask him to play but just trying to imagine him on the field...kinda like Shaq, I always wondered how he'd do on the DL or OL
