75-70 win. Curry ends with 30 points, 25 in the second half.

We are playing "USC-Upstate" next?

Oh, I thought it was Southern Cal. So is it Southern Colorado or something?

USC-Upstate used to be USC-Spartanburg. They're in their second year transitioning to Division I. They have two of the best looking, coolest twin women's golfers in the country. Well, at least in my opinion.

Nevermind. Looked it up. Didn't know Univ. of South Carolina Upstate even existed much less had a basketball team. I am assuming they are D-I but have never heard of them?

Okay...thanks. Spartanburg sounds better than Upstate. Silly to change the name if you ask me.

Post-game interview with Coach:

"Not many freshmen score 30 in a game"

Brolin "was instrumental in tonight's win."

In case anyone is wondering, 30 is not a Freshman record for LU. In '99 Jamaal Bennett scored 35 in an opening round loss in the BSC tourney. It was his last game as a Flame. Hanky didn't renew his schollie. Not "athletic enough". Something tells me Seth will break that one before this season is over.

USC Spartansburg won the NAIA the year we went to the nationals if anyone remembers that in 1982 (Our last year in the NAIA before going the Mason Dixon conference). Chalmanade knocked us off by 1 to eliminate us and USCS beat Chalmanade.

Nice to get that win against a team that played good competition and played them tough so a quality win for us. Sucks not having gametracker but with SJ doing his thing on here and doing such a great job I didn't really miss it.

I think I heard Coach say that USC-Upstate has a "7'3" guy."

Brolin had 8 boards................... but we do need more than 3 points from him.

USC-Upstate and then Cincinnati Christian. Just what the doctor ordered. Hopefully we can take this opportunity to learn how to play basketball within the first 20 minutes of a game.

From the SIDs:

http://www.libertyflames.com/index.cfm? ... 0&TeamID=6

Some interesting numbers. We were outshot from the floor and from 3, outrebounded 36-23 and had only 10 assists in the entire game.

We forced 23 turnovers and only committed 11, got to the line a lot more than they did, and shot our FTs well.

WE HAD 2 BENCH POINTS?! Johnny played 20 minutes and went 0-2. Summers was 1-1 in 1 minute. Overall the bench combined to shoot 1-4. No help from the bench in this game, but I guess that wasn't Ritchie's plan, Summers, Baker, Smith, and Weaver averaged less than 4 minutes each.

Thanks for that blast from the past Stevev. I remember losing to Chaminade, and not only was it by 1 point but it was in at least one OT, and if I'm not mistaken may have been 2. Coach Meyer joked afterward about Chamanade losing in the championship game because we wore them out. There was probably a lot of truth in that. I also believe that was the same Chamanade team which upset #1 UVA with Ralph Sampson earlier in the year.

The USC-Upstate AD is Mike Hall who used to be the golf coach at LU. At least that was the case a couple of years ago. Good guy.
