Head Coach Ritchie McKay’s Practice Quotes

Thoughts about first day of practice
“Our effort is really good. We have tremendous kids with excellent attitudes, but we have to keep in mind how youthful they are. I don’t say that as an excuse, but more importantly as a reminder about how important teaching needs to be done visually and very well explained with enough repetition to become fruitful.”

Who had an impressive first practice?
“We have freshmen every day who step up. Today it was Jesse Sanders who had a great practice, as did Seth Curry and Brolin Floyd. Austin Smith did well and Carter McMasters showed us flashes of brilliance. We have a good group, and there are a lot of guys who can contribute for us, which is an exciting prospect for our future.”

I was one of maybe half a dozen fans who attended Saturday's afternoon practice before the football game. Just a few observations:

1. Brolin is the most athletic guy on the team, and it appears he could play 1-5 on the floor; in fact, McK used him to jump center.
2. Sanders is definitely the man at the point (& on defense), and he's got a sweet long distance jumper that is accurate.
3. We have no real center, unless you count Brolin.
4. TB looked surprising good out there including throwing down a nice dunk.
5. Curry hit almost every outside shot he took, and he will get lots of steals this year, due to his quick hands.

FIFY

(I kid...I kid. CJ teed it up for me, though. I wish TB well. He could make a huge difference in our season).

No, this was TB's day to practice; he sits the next one out with lots of ice: remember, he only practices every other day.

That is a VERY smart plan by the medical staff. It does not matter if he practices every day in Oct/Nov...or even Dec.

You can't take a jab at a guy when you aren't an alum and have never seen him play.....make fun of D III sports, thats more in your wheel house.
