this is interesting- gives a little insight to what PROTO's been up to (among other things, I'm sure)

Liberty-VMI Game To Be Sponsored By Long & Foster Realtors
January 25, 2006 · Lynchburg, Va.

The Big South Conference match-up between Liberty and VMI which will be played on February 2 in the Vine’s Center will be sponsored by Long & Foster Realtors. The game, which will be promoted as the Hoops Clash, will be played at 7:00 and will be broadcast on the Big South Television Network.

The sponsorship by Long & Foster enables Liberty to offer coupons to purchase tickets to the Hoops Clash on a two-for-one basis. In addition, Long & Foster has purchased 400 tickets which will be distributed to area youth leagues which have been participating in halftime games throughout the basketball season.

The night of the game, Long & Foster will sponsor a limited edition Hoops Clash t-shirt. After each successful three-point shot by either team, the Liberty cheerleaders will toss a t-shirt into the stands where the loudest fans are gathered.

To get a two-for-one coupon, use the link below to generate a coupon which can be presented for the discount at the Flames Ticket Office. For questions about tickets or the Hoops Clash, call 582-SEAT.

Actually Medic this is a Big South deal. This is the game that they are covering that I am not getting to work next week (no hard feelings  ). Also there is a new TV show debuting this week in Big South Markets. I think Liberty is going to have a new sports show soon too. Dr Park laid the ground work and had me tagged as a host but now I hope the new AD picks up where he left of and makes it happen.

I read something about that TV show that SLY posted- think it was on the CCU board. He made a good point about them potentially streaming online- if KK is smart, thats what they'll do- BUT....

That show is available on-line through the Big South Edge on the Big South website...and it is also being shown on national networks like CSTV and in all of the local Big South viewing areas.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Big South Conference has developed a new magazine-style television show titled “Big South On The Edge,” which will feature the League’s women’s basketball programs as well as various institutional topics during an eight-week run, beginning Thursday, Jan. 26. “Voice of the Big South” Matt Hogue will serve as host, with Charlotte-based Fresh Roast TV producing.

“Big South On The Edge” will originate from a different Big South member institution each week. In addition to highlighting the respective women’s basketball program, the show will feature the head coach, Big South student-athletes’ leadership initiatives, an array of human-interest pieces, as well as a weekly review and preview in women’s basketball.

“The Big South Conference has been interested in producing a weekly television program for some time,” said Big South Commissioner Kyle B. Kallander. “To be able to feature one of our most successful sports, women’s basketball, in this initial venture is not only exciting, but very appropriate. This will be a great opportunity for fans all over the country to take a look inside the Big South and witness first hand the outstanding leadership and achievements that occur every day on our campuses.”

“Big South On The Edge” will premiere the week of Jan. 26-Feb. 1 (Thursday to Wednesday) with Birmingham-Southern College. Thanks PAmedic! Scar - Actually this is not a BSC event. It is a TV game for the Big South, but it is a game that we want to have a good turnout for. And the Big Sooth wants us to puts extra emphasis on this game because it will be on TV. Kevin Keys, our new liaison and marketing/Promotion Asst. AD came up with the idea and we are helping with art direction and marketing the event, i.e. posters, the ticket you see on this site, table tents in Cafeteria, Newspaper Ads, etc...

Everyone, if you are close to Lynchburg, please come out - the team is young and not very deep, but the games are still exciting and watching Blair, Smith, Bigby and the boys is still worth the price of admission - especially at this discounted rate. We might not compete for a BS title this year, but Coach D and his new Staff are building for the future - and if you see them play you will see that.

Here's a suggestion from the idiot gallery:

Why not take advantage of the few positives we have in this conference and schedule games between rivalries when students are actually on campus. Better yet, why not get a commissioner that thinks this is important.

I know this was talked about before, but it just blows my mind we have a commissioner that's so out of touch.
