A quick word on Minaya. He was widely regarded as one of the top incoming freshman recruits in the Ohio Valley last season. He was used primarily as a three point threat and turned out to be inconsistent, but showed flashes of what he can be in his limited minutes at TTU.

He'll have an opportunity to compete for a starting spot next year as a three-gaurd after Anthony graduates.

This could actually end up being a pretty nice pick-up for LU down the road.

Did we not assuage some of that penalty by voluntarily sacrificing one scholly last year? That should mean that we only lose one scholly this year.
Good point, that could be the case.

I'm not a fan of this. I liked the idea of taking our medicine early so that we could land more players from different classes. Now, we've delayed the penalty and added another player to graduate at the same time as almost our entire team. He better turn out to be amazing or we're going to be kicking ourselves in 4 years when we have no returning players.

A lot can change between now and the graduation of this incoming class. You gotta think that somewhere down the line, a player or two may need to move on. However, and ideally, you hope that every player fits in perfectly, accepts his role, and exceeds expectations.

That is indeed the case.

I feel the same way, but look at it like this. We have 4 returning players this year; if all 8 of these guys stay and use their eligibility over the next 4 years and we keep all our scholly’s we will have 5 returning players the year after they graduate. Also, if we can keep 8 guys playing together for 4 years we could be very dangerous by their senior year.

That would be ideal. And I hope it happens. However, are we even out of the woods yet, in terms of losing one more from this class this year?

Sounds like a good player - let's hope Oldsmar has got better in basketball - I played against them in college - on their homecoming night - becuase they didn't have football - we beat them 134-35. We had 75 at the half and sat and watched their homecoming ceremony in the stands. It is a very small school that plays very POOR competition.
