With so many unknowns it's hard to pick who will play where. IMO I think Carter and Austin will share the time at the 5. Tyler, if healthy, will play 4 and I think between Ant, Brolin, and Weaver they will get the rest of the minutes at the 4. Anthony primarily at the 3 with Brolin and Weaver get sometime there as well.

Lets also not forget... The time between the middle of july until about the end of September is when most players get hurt in workouts and stuff... So it really is tough

oh goodness... Just know that every year at least one player BESIDES Tyler gets hurt during this time...

Tyler Baker for the most part just fixes the others and performs miracle healing sessions to the other guys because he is such a team player so the public never knows...

paradox wrote:Forget about Winthrop, that's just me having a little fun with an LU rival. I don't mind stretching it a little just for fun. However, what I said about the kid from Wake is true. I'm not so sure if even Realist will touch that one, especially after I schooooooled him on Andy Buecheauart, or whatever his name was

But, all in all, maybe I'm just a heck of a lot more handsome than you, and you're just a little jealous. I'm used to that sort of thing

Are you speaking of first team all big south tourney Andy Buechert? The one who shut down Kenny George and dominated the post in every big south tourney game as we won the championship? Is that the same one?

Hate to be the one to break this one to ya. But you won the big south because of your three Greg Marshall holdovers: Gaynor, Jenkins, and Taj. Gaynor was simply not going to be denied. The whole big south couldn't match his determination. And Jenkins was an absolute monster in the title game. He just took it over---as in Stephen Curry like (LOL).

As far as Buechert goes  you and Kenny George can have him along with his 3pts and his 3 boards per game. Oh, and did I forget to mention that he's an inside player with a shooting percentage somewhere in the high 30's.

You can pretend that he's Dennis Rodman if you want, but for the most part, the guy's a bust.

Is Buechert even still on the team???

Do you actually follow the league at all?

He's a senior this year.
But Greg Oden is still at Ohio State right? :D

Buechert's actually back. Good for you, or should I say, even better for us and any other big south program heading upward 8)

Other than physical gifts there really is no way to analyse these guys until October when you put some structure into it. Russell Monroe always played well during the off season primarily because he is physically gifted. However his high school experience didn't prepare him for structure plus the fact that he is such a good guy that he over thought everything trying to do what is right and got paralysis by analysis. Eric Bigby was great in pick up games too due to his superior athleticism but structure was not his strong suit. I could name a couple of dozen other players over the years in our program as I am sure is the case in every program. I have heard from inside sources that Brolin Floyd was pretty good and that Smitty went up to Indiana and played with a bunch of pros and Held his own (HMO that's for you kid).

Scar, I totally agree with what you're saying about guys like Bigby and Phillip Ward prompting oohs and ahs from the onlookers during the offseason. Thier athleticism really stands out in non-game situations. How they use that athleticim under legitimate game conditions, along with instincts, fundamentals, court IQ, determination, ect. are just a few of the other compenents involved in the overall equation.

As far as Monroe goes, I give Dale a lot of credit for trying to work with the guy, but in all honesty, I never saw it going anywhere. To me, Russ was ineffective because of what he lacked in ability and instinctiveness, not background.

Russell was gifted to me in terms of his touch and his hands. He could catch a bullet pass from Brian Woodson and hammer it down easily. He caught passes that were a lot tougher than the passes that Julius and Aluma used to struggle with from Hildo or some other guards that put a lot of velocity on passes. You are right Dox, his instinct for the game was lacking and in the end that cost him. Great kid though and I am really happy he chose to come to Liberty. I will have him on my alumni game team next year. Julius and Stephon Leary told me last night that they might show up. Juice is about to retire so I know he will be available this year. Leary may not be able to get away since home coming is in Oct and his season will be in full swing by then.

I hear ya. I remember all the passes that Jason Dixon used to drop, but he more than made up for it with his relentless pursuit of the ball and his fighter's mentality.
