No doubt Winthrop was a shoo-in last year, no matter what happened in that game. The body of work last year was excellent. Great wins at ODU and Missouri State, plus unbeaten in conference. No way they would have been left out.

Since when did winning on the road at ODU and Missouri State make a team a shoe-in for an at-large bid? I don't realistically see how anyone can say with any level of confidence what the selection committee would have "definetley" done. If you look at past history, the guy from the small conference usually gets left out. Come to think of it, I can't think of a single instance when one of the bottom three conferences put two teams in the tourney--can you?

i actually agree with you, for once, that winthrop definitely would have not been in the tourney if they had won the big south tourney. the big south is winthrop then everyone else and the big south is a poor conference overall, so I don't see how one could make the argument that winthrop would have been a shoe-in for the tournament.

I'm not saying that they definetly wouldn't have made it---I'm just saying that it would have been up in the air and it's hard to gauge what the selection commitee would have actually done.

If past history is an indicator, then there chances would have been alot smaller that even Realist could imagine...

Realist how can you say what they did was a gimmick, when GM said in his post game interview that what VMI did was awesome and he would love to see them in the dance along side of the WU... They accomplished there goals for the regular season and then they made great coaching moves to make it to the championship game.

WU probably will not win the conference unless the appointed coaches can maintain the same success of Marshall. They are a good school now, but everyone at LU knows that LU has always had the talent, its the coaching that is gonna determine the outcome...LU#2 (yes, call me a McKaterade drinker)

TJ is fine he's just wearing that because of a minor problem, he doesn't even need it he's just wearing it for precaution.
