He was on campus for the LU/UVA volleyball match and I think his daughter is a student. That said, I highly doubt he takes his good friend's job.

I hate to say it, but we should start looking at options. I'd sign something, if not McKay, someone else.

why would you hate to say it Dr. Sheh...layer has proven that he is not capable..as much money as LU is spending on the basketball program we are not getting our return on the product being put out...this team has a lot of talent..there is no reason why we shouldnt be a top 3 team in the Big South this year...its time to move on

sure layer is a good guy but this is business regardless of it being a Christian university.

Yeah, let's go back to the well of a coach who left us high and dry when we needed him the most. McKay set us back to a place we're still trying to dig ourselves out of.

No thank you.

Norfolk DDS needed me (and any good, experienced analysts) when I left...and they'd take me back in a heartbeat, along with some others. I don't fault McKay for leaving for greener pastures.

I don't think McKay was in a good place when Seth left. He'd worked so hard to rebuild the program and had his scorer (Seth) and leader (Jesse). He was ready to go and build on that foundation and then Seth bailed. Combine that with his best friend moving an hour up the road and you have a perfect storm.

It took me a while to see the big picture. I don't think he chose to screw Liberty. I think he chose to take care of himself and his health. He needed these past few years at UVA personally and professionally.

I wish he had never left to begin with but with how he left I wouldn't want him back. We need to move forward and get new blood in here. That is the only way to get this thing headed in the right direction.

I think everyone knows that this is the case, but this is a message board and it's basketball season at Liberty. This is the best thing we've got going at the moment.

The reason I said 'Hate to say it...' is that Layer is a perfect fit for the Liberty coaching mold. Obviously the product has been horrid, and has been really for several years if you take the one hot streak out that go us into the tournament in 12-13. The time has come for a change to be made, but after 60+ losses in three years, who knows if it will actually happen. What will it take for Layer to be let go?

If things remain as they are, I can't imagine them not making a change. It will be an attractive job for someone who will be able to take us to the next level. After all, they can't screw it up any worse. No where to go but up.

We have to move on. If we don't, we're going to lose what little support for the program that we have left. There is nothing to get excited about watching this Layer coached team. Great man, great leader - but time to move on.

I dont have a problem with you wanting him brought back, although using we would be somewhat disingenuous, because while more people are signing on with the need to make a change, they arent agreeing that THAT is the change to be making
