Our old friends from the Quaker State are coming down for a couple of games with the DI team.

Discuss.

be great to win both- a split would be bearable. This is always a quality team.

I believe they are also nationally ranked this year (?)

ok- just looked- not currently ranked in the top 20 but listed first under recieved votes- am assuming they are #21.

I will amend the above thought to say we SHOULD take both games but you never know in this sport.

love to see Coach and the boys get both in front of a nice home crowd.

"love to see Coach and the boys get both in front of a nice home crowd."

Most students will still be on break - hopefully the early arrivals will show up in force!
(and stay for the D2 game afterward)

Do any of the goalies have painting on their helmets yet, or are they still white?

I was at a store in Richmond the other day that paints graphics onto all kinds of stuff...and I asked them if they could do a goalie mask...and the guy pointed and said, like that...and on the shelf there was this totally awesome goalie mask.

I said, how much would that cost. He was like $125 for that...but it can vary depending on the design...

A while back when I was in PA, there was a booth at the mall that airbrushed things like licenses and stuff like that. They would do a mask for $75 I think...

You would think with all of the members we have on this board that someone would know someone capable of giving the LU goalies a deal on helmet painting.

OK, back on topic. My sister and brother-in-law both went to IUP. I played highschool hockey with some kids that played at IUP...they've got a good program...seems like we're developing a rivalry with them...it would be nice to win both!

I keep forgetting that. I realized it after I typed it- can't believe classes don't start until the end of Jan- that has gotta be the weirdest thing I've ever heard (Yes, I know the official explanation- its still odd)

well- hopefully our Flamefans faithful can make a showing on our behalf :D

A LOT of kids are taking intensives this year because we've got that extra week. It helps a lot of us take 18 hours to make up for something we may have messed up in the past. I might actually be taking 21 hours this semester, I'm not sure yet.

Back in the beginning of Dec we beat these guys twice, 6-3 and 6-2.

they played a bit tougher last year, as we went 1-1-1 against them incl a loss at their place, a tie at home, and we beat them in the EHL playoffs.

no doubt they will be looking for a little redemption on the mountain 8)

( I'm pretty pleased with that one, yes)

If it is $125 I will pay for one mask.

flameshaw, it is a store in the Chesterfield Town Center in Richmond. The owner wrote his number and email for me on a piece of paper...I will have to find it.

I will volunteer to put in and drive the mask to Chesterfield and pick it up when it's done. Also, Flameshaw, do you want to design it, or do you want to have people submit suggestions...then you could pick the best design. We could start a new thread.

The third question would be...do we want to do this for the starting golie of the D1 team, and ask him if he wants it done to his helmet...or do we want to donate a helmet courtsey of Flamefans...flameshaw's got the painting covered...I'd donate some $ towards the helmet if we want to go that way...but I'll need some others to donate as well...

If we could get enough people to donate, we could give 2 helmets to the hockey program...one for the D-1 and one for the D-2, and we could give them directly to the program to give to the starting golies...

Any suggestions...I've got to look for that phone # and email.

Jim.

that'd be a tough decision- they really rotate those guys in and out, at least on the D1 team.

where's HOLYGOALIE33 when we need a perspective here?

and we're a bit off track- so I'll create a new thread for further dicussion on the mask painting project :)

I am pretty sure the guys have already gotten their helmets done, I know Stoltz has his. Also, goalies are really pecuilar about their equipment, it people donated a helmet it would have to what the player wanted, not just a "team" helmet.
