Actually we were ranked 6th, but Miami of Ohio declined an invite to the regional tourney, so everyone moved up a slot for the regionals. Two spots are avaliable for the nationals with 3 teams having a realistic shot at it: Liberty, Indiana, and Ohio State.
To be realistic it is really 1 spot going to either Liberty or Ohio State, with Miami gone IU is going to get two bottom feeders in Bowling Green and the winner of the NC State/Princeton game. So the only game of consequence at the southeast regionals will be on Saturday with Liberty vs. Ohio State (assuming both make it)

Out here, Cal State Long Beach, (with Ben Mitchell on Defense) snuck in at # 10. Short bench because of Injuries, but two wins away from possibly meeting LU at the nationals.

Now wouldn't that be interesting, grm?

Interesting, fun, & fantastic. It's a long shot for us, but we have played some great games. If we get some guys healthy enough in the next two weeks (week + 1/2) to contribute, we can play anybody tough. We have great goaltending. Defense right now depends on who's healthy and who makes good decisions; line has strength, but that is where we have really been hit the hardest by injuries.

It's LU vs Penn on Friday the 17th at 9:10 p.m. (Aston, PA) Penn whipped us earlier, but I believe LU will beat them.
Wonder how far that is from PAMedic? We (Cal State Long Beach) play Denver at 2:00 p.m. in San Jose. We'll see, but we do have a chance.

Thanks for the heads up. I have a feeling some of our Pennsylvanians ont he board could make the trip over to IUP's ice at Aston.

I'd love to go, but IUP (Indiana, PA) is about an hour East of Pittsburgh, thats the far end of the state, about 300 miles from me.
Clearing stuff up

Grm,
Where are you getting your information. Lets clear some stuff up.
1. Ashton is on the outskirts of Philly on the Eastern side of Penn. IUP is above Pittsburgh, on the WESTERN side of the state.
2. Liberty has never played the University of Pennsylvania, which is NOT the same team as IUP. Plus, they Liberty will in all likelyhood smoke them out of the building. Anyone ranked under 5 has little to no chance advancing to the 2nd round. Only NC State will be the only bad team to win, because they get a easier 1st round opponent because Miami of Ohio declined an invite to the regionals

Okay, I don't know jack about the national hockey scene... can someone clarify something...
Michigan... I'm assuming they play NCAA... is this a CLUB team from Michigan up in the central bracket?
Thanks

Yes, that's the Michigan club team. Many of the large schools that have bigtime NCAA Division I hockey also have strong club teams.

Flames get the win tonight 2-0... Senior Scott LaPeer just called me and filled me in on the game Kevin Dykstra scored the first goal and then Alexandra Gelinia(sp) scored on an empty netter with about 20 secs to go... we play Ohio.St at 9:20 tonight, this is the biggie we win and we are going back to nationals...

a little confused here- we were'nt slated to face Ohio State according to the brackets, so do we end up as the SE #3 or SE #4 seed?

who knows, but to beat ohio state is awesome! best of luck in the nationals!!!!!

They reseed after the first game... so Indiana as #3 played the lowest team that had won NC State.... The two middle teams played (#5LUOSU) and so Indiana carries the higher seed to Nationals.

thanks FSN, then we're the #4

Hello LU Alum Director,
I never said anything about Ashton. I still don't have a clue where it is or was. Didn't LU play Penn? Is that wrong?
I got my info from the ACHA web site.
Oh Yes, what was it you were clearing up?
Congrats to LU ! Go get them at the nationals. Long Beach lost to Denver University, and then beat Utah State.
Season over, but ended on a win at the regionals.
