the vast majority of our upcoming opponents, incl all but ONE of the next 6, are nationally ranked- so its GO TIME!

Davenport.... not ranked but we know them well!

Remember that Davenport is a D2 team, and they are ranked #1 in the Central in ACHA Division 2, and most consider them to be the best D2 team in the nation, which means they are better then at least half of the D1 teams

I am not sure why there was this thinking they were moving up to D1, the Champion had that as well. They never had plans of moving up, maybe you were confusing them with Oakland.

Kudos to the team...Here's to hoping for a continued rise to prominence to make Hockey an eventual scholarship sport...at this point, if I were still a student, I would be making the Ice Arena my sporting event of choice over the leather ball in bucket variety...intensity, hard hits and a few fights...gladiator on ice...excellent.

(As a side note: At this point, I would probably sport an authentic hockey jersey over any other jersey at this point--the design is sharp.)

West Bloomfield, MI - The University of Illinois is the #1 ranked team for the 5th consecutive poll, garnering 30 of a possible 34 first-place votes. Penn State received the other 4 first-place votes and maintained the #2 spot. The parity in Division 1 reared its ugly head as 17 of the top 20 teams lost a game during the ranking period, including 7 of the top 10 teams. Only Ohio, Liberty, and Iowa State survived the period without a blemish. Ohio, Delaware, and Oakland each moved up a pair of spots in the ranking, while Robert Morris (PA) made its debut in the Top 20 Ranking. The Colonials control their own destiny in securing the automatic berth out of the Eastern Collegiate Hockey League (ECHL) by winning their 3 remaining league contests. West Chester was the biggest mover in the polls, jumping up three spots after taking out two Top 5 teams in a span of three days, Penn State and Rhode Island.

The eighth ranking of the regular season will be released on Friday, February 2.

To finish ranked #6 in the country your first year in the DI division against entrenched programs is doubly so!

I started a 5 page argument on CCU's board as to the merits of a hockey NCAA or club team.

needless to say- many of those "good 'ol boys" were'nt very supportive, though a few of the Yankees they have DID like the concept.
