Just wondering how active these boards really are and also, did anyone know that Liberty will be housing two hockey teams this year? The second team will be playing in D2 of the ACHA. They have an 18 game regular schedule. not sure if thats set in stone yet. Details of this second team are almost non existent. Just wondering what everones comments are towards this second team :D

It's pretty cool. The only hard part would be having the money to go to both team's games.

We were just launching midseason so this hockey board was just picking up steam as you guys rolled into the playoffs. Our membership size has easily doubled since your run to the finals. Hopefully by the time your season starts we'll have any stronger following for you on here.

And I hadn't heard about the dual clubs. It sounds like you are getting even more talent coming to school now that we have our own ice.

BTW if the team wants to use this board as a way to get the word out about the program then by all means help yourself. Coach Dunton drops by here during hoops season to reach the fanbase. Your welcome to follow suit from the hockey perspective.

Some news at least on the D2's first home game. It is October 6th and it will be played right after the D1's game. Hopfully more info will come in as it gets closer the the start of the season. Would also like to add that the team has almost been picked, first cuts were made last night. Only another 1 or 2 more cuts left to be made and the team will be finalized.

Tenative roster will be 15 forwards 6 d-men an 3 goalies. I'll keep trying to post more info as things go a long :P

Its great to be in a position where cuts are necessary. I can remember back int he daty that if you could skate they wanted you on the squad.

That is great! There's a lot of guys on this board pumped about the team (s) and its sweet to hear we have another club now. Be great to see the day when we have an NCAA squad and a club team to feed it. Excellent news- get us the schedule and we'll add it at the top!

Another bit of info I should let everyone know that Liberty's own Jon Fitter is the bench boss this year for the Flames. As you all know Fitter played with the team last year so its quite excited to have an ex-Flame take on this role :D

Edite # 1 I also want to add that Liberty has started up the womens program again and will be playing this year. Unfortunatly I have zero information on them. I will see what I can dig up though concerning the womens team.

good news about the ladies team. Now I have to go back and find the thread where I pushed for that and everyone else laughed at me

they started the women's team up shortly last year, my girlfriend's roommate played. they had like 4 or 5 scrimmages or something, but she has said they plan on more this year, not sure what that entails though

I was told today that season tickets were like $20. I can definitely afford that and be able to go to a lot more games than paying $5 individually.

HolyGoalie, if you guys do have a season ticket package like this, push it and push it hard. Not many students know about it. Students LOVE hockey games but can't afford to go to them all. Twenty bucks for season tickets pays for itself in two weekends.

Deffinatly a seasons ticket package would be cheaper then paying for 18 individual games. There is still a lot that needs to be done in terms of sponsership, schedule and just a bunch of other things. I'll do what I can though to supply everyone with information. Its fun to play hockey but its even more fun to play infront of a full house :P
