ha ha. Oswego St. has a solid hockey tradition in D3 and erik cole, a mainstay for the stanley cup champion carolina hurricanes played at oswego. im sure their club team though different from the D3 team will play our boys hard and it should be a good tuneup for the nationals.

this game was so lopsided bc oswego only dressed around from what i could tell 15 or so players and that is a generous estimate giving them no chance at all...they got out skated the entire night we finished checks when they couldn't-cannot say that i am suprised having grown up in upstate ny playing hockey nearly all elite players leave town to pursue juniors or prep play by the time they turn 16 whats left ...well we play varsity and if we stay in state play for a team like say oswego a majority of their players wouldnt even make the d-2 team here
and finally to save my homestate from being run over the bus i just threw them under Rochester (NY) Youth Hockey regularlly produces professional players and had 3 representing the mens and womens olympic teams in torino which speaks volumes of the quality of ny hockey in general

This was a scheduling mistake IMO.
Our guys played the Oswego's Club ACHA D-1 team - this was not Oswego's NCAA D-3 team.
Some of these guys could barely skate....

Varsity NCAA site below:

ACHA Club D-1 site below:

This team should have played our D-2 team.
Unfortunately they were not even a good tune-up for our D-1 guys.....

Sorry smoothie, I did not mean to say anything to upset you.

Unfortunately their ACHA team is struggling - in terms of preparation for nationals our guys would have been better off with an inter-squad scrimmage.

The fans were confused at the game, during warmups I got a call asking me to check and see which team was on the ice!

yes indeed a scrimmage might have been better. i really thought oswego would be better than that.

I think that the biggest problem was the timing of us needing one more weekend series and the majority of the nation occupied with conference tourneys-there is a philosophy of totally not challenging your team but still keeping them in the rhythm of the season (see Florida scheduling WCU at the end of their season in football) im sure this will benefit us seeing as the next game is so soon after with a fair amount of travel involved
def. better than scrimmage cuz it still brought in some money
i didnt make the saturday game but was anything done to honour the seniors?

Interesting you should say that. Oswego State went on to win the NCAA D3 national title last season.
