Here's a way too early look at the class 4 years from now - Gideon Davidson, aka Gid the Kid, a young man from LCA has already received a full offer from UVa in his 8th grade year. I hope we can jump on the wagon soon. He is going to be something really special.

It didn't take long for Liberty to jump on the wagon.

If HF and this staff had been around a few years ago when Zach Rice was an 8th grader, we would probably have a shot at him right now.

Agreed.

As for this kid, he looks special.

He is special and not just athletically. The story of how he and his two older brothers got to Lynchburg is incredible and they have grown to be terrific young men. Oldest brother Josh is playing at Indiana Wesleyan. Middle brother Caleb will be a junior at LCA next fall and was named all-Seminole district RB this spring. And they are better people than football players.

Just something I've learned from monitoring a college football recruiting. Most staffs split recruiting by territory, not the position group. Especially of the staff isn't from the same areas, coaches will usually get their home states and border states.

That ends when the player is not just an offer, but on the big board. When the staff has decided this is one of 5 people we are pursuing at this position, the position coach takes over.

Something to keep in mind each recruiting season.

Sometimes it's coincidence a recruit is within the position coaches territory, but sometimes you can see the coaches the recruit tags change over a couple of tweets.
