There's an early signing period in December of every year and the regular signing period is in February. So we still have another 6 months to go before these recruits can sign on the dotted line.

We have a commitment from a 3rd WR. Speedy little guy, who we are probably looking at mostly as a return man.

We just picked up a commitment from 3* QB Reese Mooney. He was previously committed to vandy and will be our 3rd highest rated commit all time. This will give us 3 top 1000 recruits in the QB room next year.

I gave him his own thread but this is a huge get. Just take a look at his offers. Wow! He de-committed from Vandy back in May and obviously the staff of both sports at LU blew him away,

The only potential reason for pause is that he is also an elite level shortstop prospect. The MLB Draft next summer could be a thing. Otherwise the idea of this kid getting on our campus is HUGE!

I was wondering the same thing. I'm wondering if they're investing more in the athletic department at LCA because it looks like more student athletes are getting into good colleges.

I don’t know about all that, just the timing of his Visa and offer/ acceptance - where else would he go on 6 weeks notice before practice starts. Would be shocked if any other high school ( unless he has relatives already in US located elsewhere ).

From his twitter, it sounds like his family is back in Senegal. You have a point there; he may be attending LCA for his last year. He could help the football team make a repeat to the championship.

We are up to 11 recruits this year with another one left to be announced. I'm curious how many high schoolers we plan to take this year. We only took 13 the last two seasons so I wonder if we are almost done recruiting until after the season. We are getting better recruits than last season so that may also influence how heavily we hit the transfer portal.

So today, with HCHF's latest boom tweet, we are up to 2 mystery commitments.

One of the two mystery booms was an unrated OL recruit out of Kentucky. He had 6 other G5 offers so I assume he'll end up a lower tier 3*

What’s better for recruiting rankings, Sports 247 or On3?

Short answer is whichever site ranks your team higher. Longer answer is until On3 becomes more established I would say 247 is better since they have more players ranked at the moment. Eventually I think On3 will be better but they are so new they just haven't caught up yet. All of these sites are made by the same guy anyway who gets bored, sells the site and makes a new one with new ideas.

My man, Bobby Burton! I met him when he was hawking his newsletter out of his condo in Austin a quarter century ago.

Freeze put out a boom today. He labeled it Dixieland delight, which seems to point to the great state of Alabama. Any ideas fellas?

I haven't spotted any public declarations of a commitment as yet. But I had to snicker at the use the words great & state in front of Alabama in the post.

I will endorse that quote about Alabama. I just spent 5 days in Alabama. There's no better state in America, than Alabama

Rivals has dropped 3 stars on DE Eliyt Nairne and 2 stars on OL Austin Anderson. Liberty presently has the 67th ranked class on Rivals.

Rivals now have us ranked as the 62nd recruiting class in the country.

Unfortunately we are getting into decommitment season. DE Ezra Odinjor and WR Jeremiah Shack have both announced they've decommitted from the program, likely to go to P5 teams. Fortunately we still have solid recruits at both positions.

I was just about to ask if it was us or them moving on but if they are likely to go power 5 I would imagine it’s not us…

We are far enough into the season that P5 schools with slots remaining start dropping further down their wish list. It happens most every year to us. Then again, we sometimes benefit as well.

Ezra Odinjor was offered by a lot of G5 schools before committing to Liberty. He has since been offered by Washington St, Kansas, Georgia Tech and Arizona St.

Jeremiah Shack was already getting offers from multiple P5s to include Georgia and committed to Liberty. I'm not really sure what the deal with his recruitment was. Maybe some of those offers weren't commitable. Either way he's a P5 caliber player.

It's not crazy to see high end G5s beat out the occasional low end P5 for a recruit but its near impossible for G5s to keep a recruit when higher end P5s start sniffing around. Even in the most recent recruiting class Cincinatti was losing recruits to Illinois, Oregon St and West Virginia so I wouldn't put too much stock in it. As our recruiting classes get better we will lose more recruits to P5 programs, it just shows how good our coaching staff is at finding talent before most other programs.
