I agree, badger74. My point with the portal is that there is now little reason to believe that the kids that you signed out of HS will be with your program for more than a year or two. And that is whether they are laguishing on the bench of good enough to be poached by the super elite teams once they have proven their talents at the FBS level. Both are equally likely to be gone at schools like ours ... and even Wisconsin.

College rosters are going be much more fluid moving forward based on the portal. Coaches can't assume anything and will need to work harder on retention and not just recruiting.

CB/CF Brylan Green will be announcing his commitment today. Would be a great get for both football and baseball.

According to my sources, there were 3 "big time " recruits visiting campus today.

Freeze, Malik, Matthews, Salter, Holloman, Hardy, and who knows who these others 2 guys are. Throw in McKay's, Jackson, and Dot's success against the SEC. Maybe the SEC should inviting us. We'd do as well as the Commodores.

Excellent post. We'd be better than some schools being mentioned.

I'm not sure if this is the third commitment. Based on the date when Freeze post his tweet and this prospect unofficial visit, it seems like they do not connect imo.

HF's tweet was yesterday, which was the day McTaggert was on campus.

Not saying this means he committed; just that the timing is in fact spot on.

Ryan Gunter. 6'6" 300lb OL from Alabama

Could be one of the 3 HF tweeted about, or it could be #4

Another DB. This time the son of a long-time NFL player who was one of the most versatile DBs ever to play the game. First NFL player ever with 30 interceptions and 30 sacks.

I was thinking whatever chances we had were gone when he named his top 5, but apparently not. 8)

If this was his first visit, I would tend to agree. I don't believe it is.

Regardless - At least we got some good national press about it, β€œ5 star visits Liberty” - better than nothing.
