Hillsdale sophomore defensive end Zach VanValkenburg was named the G-MAC Defensive Lineman of the Year.

The Zeeland West graduate gave the Chargers an essential threat off the edge and had his best season, leading the conference with 8.5 sacks. His 13 tackles-for-loss ranked fifth in the G-MAC, and his speed and power helped open up playmaking opportunities for a defense that led the G-MAC in interceptions.

This is real intriguing. This DII league had a kid transfer to Fresno State last year and light it up. Some kids slip through the cracks and this kid is generating serious interest after just making it public last week that he is looking at a grad transfer.

For those unfamiliar, Hillsdale College is a smaller but academically rigorous school in Michigan whose idealogy and mission is similar to ours. This kid would know what he was getting into with the Liberty experience based on his time at Hillsdale.
