Friday and Saturday will be extremely important recruiting days. Anything less that 2-3 solid commitments from the Prospects Camp on Fri. and the Big Man's Camp and Team Passing Camp on Sat. will be a disappointment IMHO.

This will be repeated ad nauseum and it should.
Guys chasing that logo will be mad on that bench when playing time is a no-go
A clever and catchy way to say it that should ring pretty loud with some of the 3* guys.

I think specialist camp is this week too. On that topic, can I just say how impressed I am with Probert? Brought him in for his accuracy and suddenly he has the strength to go with it.

Probert may have increased his range a bit, but he arrived with plenty of leg. Kicked 2 from 50 plus as a true FR. He didn't have as many unreturnable KOs as Lunsford, but that was partly by design. Probert gets the ball higher, and we were able to stop a number of returns inside the 25 on kicks he put down around the goal line with some hang time.

Oh yeah, it wasn't that he had a week leg, but the S&C guys are doing work.

Granted, no lineman to kick over, but...67 yards is still a monster leg for a rising sophomore.

I know we are all hyped up for this potentially BIG recruiting weekend, but let's remember that some of these kids have already stated they will announce next week who they are committing too. JT Wood, Godfrey and I believe Lynum are some of them. There very well may be others. I won't be disappointed if no one commits this weekend. However, I will be shocked and a little disappointed if we get no more commitments before the start of Fall Camp.

Now for some fun. Which recruits are on your wishlist for 2018?

For me:

Caleb Lynum QB

Jordan Underwood WR

Brock Mattison LB

Uriah West RB

Random Jernigan ath

Mike Maye OT

Moose Griffith OT

Landon Bebee OL

Michael Lewis DE

Robert Rhem DB

Ok, he's in the class of 2019, but he is top of the list for me.
Ryland and Justin Menard (Sean Queen's HS teammate) are the only 2 players we have offered so far for 2019, and both could be breakthrough recruits for us. Ryland is rated as the #1 TE in the class by some services, and I'm pretty sure Justin's 4.34 is the fastest 40 time of any player in the class. I am a bit suspicious of the 40 times from that Mercer camp however. Both Sean and Justin were timed a good bit faster than their previous best there.

Not my list, but the coaches':

QB - Caleb Lynum
RB - Dylan McDuffie & Bryson Godfrey
WR - Jyaire Shorter
OL - Josh Jefferson & Ford Roberts
DL - Donavan King
LB - Jalen Rayam
DB - Lance Boykin

Well, sounds like Neo has a source. If we could land 4 or 5 of those, we would be on our way to a great class. Those guys are not all the highest rated we have offered, so I take it they are the ones the coaches both like and think we have a good shot at.

I know he's '19 but he's pretty much a lock, unless Clemson offers.

Hopefully the staff can use the connections that we have for Goede and get a visit. It's going to be a longshot but if we can make his top 5 it would be huge.

Boykin's HPCA team won the 7 on 7 tourney Saturday. A year ago we landed Jimmy Faulks under similar circumstances. Love having height/length in the secondary, and Lance looks like he would really fit in at LU.

The closest I can come to confirming Lynum is DeArmon's "gunslingers from FL" tweet. I suspect he was there.

Boykin didnt even share the pic. It was his mom that did a few days aftee he posted multiple pics at purdue and odu. Feels like we may be the parental choice but 3rd on the kids radar.

My thoughts so far are that weve done well and we can build depth but we need to hit on a 2 or 3 of these elite players early. One good thing is that tech and uva are both almost to 20 commits so they wont be making a lot of late offers. They have both targeted north carolina heavily and obviously there involved with most virginia targets.

FWIW

Lance Boykin retweeted the pic of him and his parents in the locker room. Getting him on campus and having his parents appearing to be in support of LU on some level. I like our chances still.

Actually, while his mom made the original tweet, Lance retweeted it in short order, just as she did with the Purdue and ODU pics he tweeted. Doesn't look like she made those trips though, which may or may not be significant.

Big get today guys! I think we will have some pleasant surprises coming our way in the next few weeks. I for one hope Bryson Godfrey takes his talents to the beach chickens due to what I have read about Anthony Ballard Jr. There is an article written about him linked to his twitter page that clearly states we are his #1. This comes straight from his mouth(AND WE KNOW HOW RELIABLE A 17 YEAR OLDS MOUTH CAN BE). Nevertheless, he speaks of going to law school and really likes what our school stands for. :D
